POLL: 2013 AUTOMOTIVE RESOLUTIONS

As we kick off 2013, I thought it would be fitting to do as we did last year and begin with a poll and discussion about our automotive resolutions for the new year. Surely everyone must have some sort of car-related goal for 2013. Is it buying a new car? Finishing a project? Attending a certain event for the first time? Hitting the track? Something else? Let’s discuss.

As for me. Well, that old hulk of a Toyota sitting down in my garage needs a lot of attention and I’m also looking forward to doing some cool upgrades on my daily driver over the course of the year – among many other Speedhunting goals.

How about you guys?

Well I'm only 12 but I have a 4age I'm working on, does that count as a project?

Can't get a car for now. Guess it's just more events and photos for me. :)

Going to be purchasing an 80s Civic when I get my tax refund. I want a hatch, but there's an 87 sedan I've been eyeing for a few weeks, which may end up at the shop if it's still available.

my overall goal includes several of the options.  get my VQ35 s14 running, take it to several track days, and buy a tow car for it.

Buy a new car so I can start a new project, that when finished, I can take to big events and have more track days. Which then leads to shooting more photos of it. Lol

I want to get my Be-1 onto the road...

Attempt to get my pulsar back on the road after the project being in progress for 5 years now, its about time I got to drive it. I won't say get the car finished, as I don't think I'll ever actually finish it off, there will always be something new to do (SR20VE head swap for example).

More track days, my car will never be "finished" its an endless development of making the car go, stop and turn as well as possible

finish a project so i can finally have my first track day!

I want to respray a new paint on my Soarer, put a proper rollcage in and weld the diff. Also, a nice garage for the new year would be nice...

Finish working on my '87 Nissan Sunny Coupe GTI (known as Nissan Sentra Sport Coupe in the US). First, I need to remove some rust, change some suspension parts and upgrade the brakes. Then, I'll add a sporty seat and maybe get some new wheels, I'd really like to get some vintage JDM wheels, but getting them registered for my car here in Switzerland will be very hard and expensive I guess....

I just want to get out and drive more. I don't mean for work, I mean just drive for the sake of driving. Trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway, late night blasts through the mountains, even just road trips for no reason at all.

it going to be a responsible money year, so i guess shoot more photos it is

I've got my road test in March, so I can get my N(novice) license :) In British Columbia, Canada, you get your 'L' (learner, its only a computer test) when you're 16 and there are quite a few restrictions on it. You have that for a year, and then you have to take a road test for your N, which has less restrictions and is a progression towards the full license. After you have the N for two years, you can take another road test for your full license. It's quite shitty, but it is what it is. I hope I'll pass, and no reason I shouldn't :D

I'm going to finish my Triumph Spitfire 6 project. I've only had it a couple of months, but it's coming along nicely. I'm nearly done on the welding, then I'll strip down the chassis and re-rust proof it. Then I need to rebuild the 2.5PI Triumph inline 6 I have. Then a full respray, lots of go-fast bits and I'm away.

I need to get better on driving, I will practice even on public roads, as much as I can, the difference between today and next year has to be obvious.

I'm trying to go to a 24h race, Le Mans,Spa or Nürburgring. And next year buy a new car, a Impreza WRX if possible. Now money is a small problem...

As an aspiring photographer, I obviously voted to take more pictures, which also means that I want to also attend a big event (F1/N24). But the enthusiast side of me wants to get a new car because I was unlucky in saving my previous car (insert sad face here). Then there are other, non-speedhunting, goals that I'd also like to achieve suck as becoming dictator of the universe and what not.

Lots of goals, yet so little time to complete them.

Buy a new car: I wouldn't mind to buy a new car, but that's not really a prpiority.

Finish a project: it's not really a project but i hope i can get some more juice of my stock STI..

Attend a big event: Not really into big events, but any car related event will get me interested in.

More track days: Actually i've never been into any track day, so i guess that wanting to go on a track day is not a bad goal to start the new year..

Shoot more photos: Defenetly! As an Autmotive/photography enthusiast i really want to shoot more photos!

Other: Buy a convertible, rear wheel drive, second car to start drifting arround and chill next summer.. (It woldn't be bad if that car was a s2000... ;D )

Have fun you all!

BenjaminSaucier 24 pts

My project will pretty much never be finished, but I do plan to attend a full season of autocross and get some track days in. I want that trophy ;)

Martijn M 16 pts

Finish a project: Projects are never finished... Will do some work on my 106 Rallye.

Attend a big event: Nürburgring 24h is definately on this list.

More track days: Just what it says...

Shoot more photos: If this is possible... Take to much already.

Other: HAVE FUN!

Pass my motorbike test this month and get my first bike (1989 Honda CBR400RR NC23).

That's it, resolution done in month 1, then 11 months of doing nothing :)

I have a lot of resolutions for this year:

1: Buy a Subaru BRZ

2: Go to less shows and go to more races, either spectating or participating

3: Sort out my current project cars - 1987 Toyota MR2 and 1991 BMW 318is

4: Get a #featurethis spot with my MR2

4: Sell at least 150 cars (I'm a Subaru sales rep)
