#FEATURETHIS: THE 愛車!

Japan’s love for the automobile is widely known, and I suppose it’s no surprise that the Japanese language has its own word that people use to refer to their own personal machines. That word is “愛車” – “aisha” – a literal combination of the words and kanji characters for “love” and “car”.  A simple, yet beautiful word if I do say so myself.

With that, let’s get on with this week’s #FeatureThis selection of aisha submitted by the Japanese Speedhunters community.

gues247 It's better than half of the hipster-mobiles on this page, so buzz off!!!

That UZZ31 Soarer gets my vote.

The light blue C110 Skyline on steel rims was beautiful.

That Mustang looks better than 99% of the mustangs you see here in the States... Japanese just have that magic touch that makes cars look the way they ought to look.

i was thinking the same thing!! i mean who else would be able to make neons lights look cool?!

also would like to see a better picture of that CR-Z....!

Frozzy 42 pts

That's just blatantly biased. It's not a bad looking Mustang whatsoever but to put it over the Mustang communities in the states as a whole? I don't know about that.

I am not even into domestics but I have seen so many nice Mustangs of that generation on the web.

Look up Cobra's with CCW's or something and you'll know what I am talking about

I want to kick myself every time i see a mazdaspeed 3. Was gonna pick up one as a daily but decided not to at the last moment ( i like to live with in my means and this was just outside of it). It turned out for the best since i picked up the Z instead but i really think Mazda did a great job with the first gen of the Mazdaspeed 3. Great looks, plenty of power and very practical. Future classic.

Great post, lovely rides, REALLY amazed seeing that Mustang Cobra, not the first car you'd expect seeing in Japan! So clean and slick looking, it has a real beastly look! And the japanese style wheels also add to the original flavour to it, very nice car, bet it gets some head turning even in Japan. Would really appreciate to see a higher res of it! Respect to the owner. Probably one of those mystic japanese american car lovers, haha.

VecTT That was just a run of the mill Mustang GT. nicely done, and would love to see more pictures of it because that's probably one of the first of that body style in red that I've seen and actually liked.anyone know what wheels those are?

Gx71 Mark II - I kinda like this crazy shakotan style. I'm not a big fan, but sometimes it amazes me that it can look good.

the C110 looks like the Mustang II of JDM ville :)  Is that an original color scheme?

Loving Team N-Trance!!! Seeing more of that would be excellent, teams/friends mad on cars. Go the whole hog and feature them!

Love this selection! Run it again soon and let the Japanese Speedhunter crew put more up!

Pancakes That is a very good question, haha.

Mike is there a similar word like “愛車” – “aisha” for motorbikes? I would like to put the Kanji characters on both my Honda Civic and my Honda CBR

thx

HSSLTYO 11 pts

kokotorrio  I was thinking '愛バイク, and google confirmed this. Not as cool tho, since it's half kanji half katakana (バイク - baiku - bike ) Dunno if there's a cooler word for it.

koko san 62 pts

HSSLTYO thx are you japanese?  I can see “愛車” translated on Google Beloved vehicle/Favorite car etc. any Japanese Speedhunter know if it can used for refering to a motorcycle as well? thx :-)

I always find it interesting to see what the Japanese do with American muscle cars such as that Mustang.

Can you guys do an article about the japanese min-van and micro-van modding scene? I seen full magazines dedicated to that scene, at japanese books stores here in CA.

I love the CR-Z and shakotan cars, talk about variety.

Haha, I'm loving the angry bug and the GX71.

The blue C110 is prob my fav of the bunch though.
