#FEATURETHIS: ONE MAN’S MENTAL MICRA

Not long ago we received a message in the #FeatureThis inbox from Steve Thackwray who wanted to share his buddy’s K11 Nissan Micra with us. It’s not just any Micra mind you, but one of the craziest examples I’ve ever seen – not just in terms of its body work, but beneath the skin as well.

When Steve’s friend Gary Russell picked up the Micra, it was your typical run of the mill commuter car. Being a mechanic by trade, Gary wasted no time in transforming the Micra to fit with his own slightly twisted ideals.

One of the first things he did was hack up the entire rear half of the body, resulting in a one of a kind Mirca Pickup. This was just the beginning though, as he wanted to make sure the car had an equally crazy powerplant.

At one point an S12 Silvia came through Gary’s shop, so he decided to yank the CA18ET motor from the Silvia and throw it into the Micra. It wasn’t an easy job, but he eventually got the motor in and outfitted it with an upgraded turbocharger, among other performance goodies.

He also outfitted a set of custom-built carbon fiber fender flares which cover a mix-matched set of wide Longchamps and RS Watanabes.

If the interior looks like it was designed for competition, that would be because this thing is essentially a race car. Gary takes it to the track often where the little Micra gets some very funny looks as it runs right alongside pricey, high-powered machinery.

While there’s no arguing that this thing is pretty extreme, there’s been talk of Gary converting the Micra to rear wheel drive in the future. After all, that would be the only thing that could make his Micra more interesting.

Thanks for sharing, guys!

Awesome build, but the monster stickers ruin it a bit for me. Every chav and their grandmother is rocking them these days unfortunately. When it's RWD it'll be amazing!

I don't usually see a Kei car this great! :D

MangoZerox It was never a kei car to start with. Kei cars have 660cc engines. The March/Micra has at least 1000cc.

Wait, ca18 turbo or NA? Cause I see a FMIC

BradenWhite 6 pts

omclarke CA18ET that T being a big clue that it's turbo'd unless Mike was just stating what the motor was to start with.

thacko 6 pts

BradenWhite  omclarke its a CA18ET as stated, its also why it has turbo written on the rocker cover
