Depending on where you live in the world, it may already be September for you. Here on the US West Coast we have about another 12 hours left in August and that means it’s time to look back at our monthly assortment of feature cars. It also means that you guys are now faced with the difficult task of selecting your favorite feature of the month.
From modern and historic race cars, street machines, and Rat Rods, there were some amazing vehicles featured on Speedhunters in the month of August.

Your local racing circuit is a special place, yet one that is often overlooked – unless you happen to live next door to the Nordschleife. I guess it’s a case of the grass always being greener on the other side, but rarely do we give enough credit to our home circuits. I’ve shot more events at Mondello Park than I care to remember, and as such have pretty much taken the place for granted. With all the doom and gloom – financially speaking – surrounding the world of motorsport these days, it has made me looking at things differently and forced me to appreciate things more. Rather than taking Mondello for granted, I want to show you why it’s one of my favourite racing circuits anywhere in the world.
Now I’m not quite sure how big this program is in other parts of the world, but here in North America many European manufacturers offer a “European Delivery” option for new car buyers. Instead of picking up a car straight off the lot, or waiting for it to arrive on the truck, you can special order your vehicle and then fly to Europe to tour the factory and take delivery of your new machine right then and there. After that, the new car owners are able to experience a great European vacation behind the wheel of their new car – sightseeing, driving the Autobahn, visiting the Nurburgring and so forth.
One of the underlying factors that shined through at Gatebil was that everything revolves around having lots of fun. Want to make yourself feel old? Consider this fact. We are coming up quickly on five years since the R35 GT-R hit the market. With that in mind, there’s been a lot of speculation over what the future of the GT-R holds. At one point, there was even question over whether there would even be a follow-up to the current GT-R. This week Inside Line published a story with some info on the current state of GT-R development. Word is the current car will continue along with a significant update in 2013/14 , and then be followed by up an all new model for 2018.
2018 is still a long way off so there’s few details on what the next GT-R will bring to the table. What would you like to see from Nissan’s performance flagship? The same twin turbo V6? Twin turbo V8? Hybrid? Something completely different?

The Mustang crash at FD Pro Am in Las Vegas wasn’t the only scary drifting accident over the weekend. Over in Japan at Ebisu Circuit during D1GP round five, Manabu Orido put his V8-powered Toyota 86 into the tire wall in another big drifting crash. Now the crash itself isn’t near as frightening as the flipping Mustang, but what’s amazing is how close the car gets to the trackside cameraman. Mere inches it seems!
Thanks to quick reflexes no one was hurt, but certainly a scary moment indeed.
