86-X PROGRESS PART FOUR – ALL CAGED UP

Part three of the 86-X build story had ended with me arriving in New Jersey for Formula Drift Round 4. Qualifying in third, we started off the event strong, but with the help of a drivetrain failure in the final turn of our Top 16 battles we ended our competition weekend early.

POLL: THE CARS OF JUNE

As the month of June winds down, we wanted to use this week’s poll to ask the Speedhunters audience which one this month’s car features was their favorite.

With some brilliant machines presented from around the world this month, it won’t be an easy choice.

For a refresher, we’ve added links to all the month’s feature cars below.

THE MAD KOENIGSEGG-POWERED FORD GRANADA

We try to showcase as many of the world’s mouth-watering car builds as we can here on Speedhunters, and sometimes end up digging quite deep to find them. Occasionally though comes a project that is completely mind blowing. A “viral” build if you will.

This particular build is one that’s already gained quite a bit of attention on the net recently, but there was no way we couldn’t share this one.

THE DMAC 86 – WORKIN’ ALL NIGHT

Hey, Speedhunters! Time for another update on the 86. The excitement is really starting to build and the finish line is in sight. As we are leaving the outside the same colour as last year all the panels just need to be re-fitted once the chassis is complete. It doesn’t look much like a car right now, but the exterior will come together very quickly.

VIDEO: FROM BIRTH TO MONACO

Want to get an idea of what it’s like to go from birth to the starting grid of Monaco Grand Prix in less than two minutes?

Check out this amazing piece that was aired as part of BBC’s coverage of the Monaco GP a few weeks back.

It’s one of the most memorable motorsports related clips I’ve seen in a long time.

THE DMAC86 – MOVIN’ ON

Time for an update on the D-Mac86. We are a bit late with these so we will be bringing you two updates close together. First off a quick update on parts and paint with a new colour for the chassis that I hope you all prefer to the white we used on the 2011 build. Above you can see our new dry sump pump and alternator bracket which will make the engine bay much neater rather than have the top mount alternator like on a stock rotary. We will take a more detailed look at the bracket later…
