NEWS>> CONFIRMED: IRWINDALE CANCELS 2012 SEASON

You may refer to the statement Formula DRIFT sent out recently. We are not cancelling our event nor do we have plans to move it from Irwindale Speedway. The venue is NOT closed, just the "Race" season is cancelled. We are not the "Race" season. Lots up in the air right now, but also tons of misinformation out there.

Irwindale appears to be changing hands and given the schedule they run I wouldnt be suprised to see them back online next year after some changes are made to improve income.

The real reason for the closing is do to Toyota pulling out as the tracks main sponsor. We can only hope that someone will come in and replace them soon.

Toyota backed out as the main sponsor of the track, that and low attendance for normal saturday night races caused the track to cancel its normal season, private events and FD are still happening at Irwindale.

Formula D is not cancelled, irwindale was only a track they use. there is a small update on the formula D site. google search is your friend.

Wow...So where is the FD final round gonna be? This is kind of upsetting, I always looked forward to irwindale but Formula Drift will find something 100 times better.

Oh no!! Hopefully, its only for renovations. I remember seeing my very first professional drifting exhibition at Irwindale. It was an exhibition sponsored by D1GP (japanese) where all these Japanese pros brought their cars over to America to give a show and to try and expose americans to drifting. Legendary place!

How do some of you read that Irwindale Speedway closes for 2012 and then come up with no Formula D? I guess if FD only had events at this track that would be true but since that's not the case, there is still FD. Reading and comprehension definitely owns some of you.

Formula D is not ending. All the 2012 events at Irwindale are, including the final round of Formula D, which is a shame since it does have a place in drifting.

Phoenix international raceway is just for NASCAR faggots. Firebird international raceway doesn't have the quality and high speed that makes formula D epic.

Phoenix international and Firebird Raceway is only a short drive away and the weather is perfect all year. Arizona needs a drift event. Formula D's announcer lives out here maybe he can help to make that happen.
