In the ninth day of the ongoing Dakar Rally, Robby Gordon narrowed the gap between him and leader Stephane Peterhansel to just five minutes and 58 seconds. 2011 winner Nasser Al-Attiyah meanwhile suffered mechanical issues with his Hummer and was forced to retire from the event. Krzysztof Holowczyc continues to hold on to third position.

Sad to see Nasser out of the rally. Oh well, at least Holowczyc and Gordon are still chasing Peterhansel and Roma is also doing good. This rally is getting more interesting every day!

That guy at 2:00 isnt very nice, i understand that its a race but the guy nearly runs down a spectator in a river then he knocks over the guys bike, probably flooding it and ending his race. Just seems a little extreme to save 10 seconds.

Yeah, bit of a dick move by the guy fording in the mini.

Average speed over more than 500km in a Hummer of 195km/h is absolutely insane.

Though I am a bit surprised that they're using something as flimsy as belts on their engines, I was expecting shaft drive or at least chain drives....
