Photos Of The Year 2011>> Dino Dalle Carbonare Pt.3

Time to finish up my selection of Pix of the Year with this third part, which spans from September all the way to this month. I’ve been through quite a journey this year, I’ve met wonderful people, sampled and shot incredible cars, attended some epic events and learned so much in the process. 2012 will be an even richer experience I’m sure, and I’m already getting excited about all that is coming up, starting from next month. All the best for the New Year from Japan!

(Above) Lotus/Tissot 88B, Lotus Day Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan:  There is nothing like getting up and close to legendary F1 cars.

Mt. Fuji as seen from FSW after the D1 Final, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Fuji Speedway always serves up stunning views of Mt. Fuji, when it’s not hiding behind clouds that is!

Lotus Exige around turn 1 at FSW, Lotus Day Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: One of my favorite events of the year was the Lotus Day. I cover tons of stuff at FSW all the time but this one had an altogether different atmosphere. Driving around the track at the end of the day for the closing ceremony was the perfect end to a perfect day.

Star Road S30, Hellaflush Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: It seems classics in Japan keep getting better and better. Star Road created what has to be one of the most impressive, fully-restored Zs in the world.

Slammed Cima, King of Sedan Festival 2011, Osaka, Japan: To camber or not to camber, that is the question.

D’Custom Freak Celsior; King of Sedan Festival 2011, Osaka, Japan: The most unique VIP car of the year thanks to Mizuno-san and his Celsior with Century front.

My R34 GT-R, Tomei Powered, Machida, Tokyo, Japan: It was great seeing my car shot for the Tomei catalogue. I’ve never seen it looking so good!

Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary, Sodegaura Forest Raceway, Chiba-ken, Japan: I was finally able to shoot one of the most legendary cars of all time, the Countach.

Toyota 86, Fuji Speedway Short Course, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Toyota has proven to everyone out there that it is once again serious about making fun cars. The 86 was one of the most satisfying cars I’ve driven in a very long time.

Toyota 86, Fuji Speedway Short Course, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: The response we got from our first drive of the car proved just how important this car is going to be. 2012 will be without any doubt the year of the 86!

Calsonic GT500 GT-R, Nismo Festival 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan:  The Calsonic GT500 GT-R against Mt. Fuji; if this doesn’t sum up the Nismo Festival perfectly I don’t know what will.

Scion FR-S, Sodegaura Forest Raceway, Chiba-ken, Japan: As exciting as three laps were in the 86 at Fuji Speedway, a whole day blasting around Sodegaura Forest in the Scion FR-S was like a dream come true. Epic day, epic car.

Ken Gushi drifting the Scion FR-S, Sodegaura Forest Raceway, Chiba-ken, Japan: Ken Gushi doing what he does best.

Naoki Hattori driving the Pan Speed RX-8, Roadster & Rotary Meeting 2011, Sendai Hi Land, Miyagi-ken, Japan: It is probably the smallest event I cover all year but the Roadster & Rotary meeting oozes atmosphere.

Auto Garage K2 Roadster, Roadster & Rotary Meeting 2011, Sendai Hi Land, Miyagi-ken, Japan: Auto Garage K2 proving Roadsters can be blisteringly fast.

J’s Racing AP1, Tsukuba Super Battle 2011, Tsukuba Circuit, Ibaraki-ken, Japan: The TSB this year was beginning to look more like a D1 drift event than a time attack event due to the crappy weather. Thankfully it all cleared up and decent times were set.

Car Peace LHD AE86, Hellaflush Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Could this be the cleanest AE86 engine bay ever?

Hellaflush Japan, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Hellaflush brought different scenes together at Fuji giving us an impressive mix of styles.

Shinji on board his RWB 964, Hellaflush Japan, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: One of Nakai-san’s best creations of 2011, the “Good Hills Speed” 964.

Osaka JDM EF9 Civic, Hellaflush Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Kanjo racer perfection

Tokita vs Iwai, D1 Final 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: David vs Goliath

Ohara-san of R-Magic checking out Takayama drifting his FD3S, D1 2011 Final, Fuji Speedway, Japan: Pink hair to match the team colors!

Bee Racing Elgrand, Bee Racing, Machida, Tokyo, Japan: The Elgrand that thinks it is a GT-R!

City Performance Centre V8 E36 M3, City Performance Centre, Sydney, Australia: My favorite car of the year, period!

Do-Luck BNR34, Do-Luck HQ, Yokohama, Japan: It might not get used much but at least the Do-Luck R34 is kept in tip top condition.

Fat57 Customs Chevy truck, Sydney, Australia: Not something I expected to see in Australia.

Tomica Z, Nismo Festival 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: More Nismo Festival goodness.

KA67 Fire Wagon, Hellaflush Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Most original car I have come across this year. Definitely one to shoot once completed!

Racing KPGC110, Nismo Festival 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: No comments needed here.

Lazy bulldog, Hellaflush Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: This chunky little fellow cracked me up

Mooneyes Hot Rod & Custom Show 2011, Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama, Japan: Mooneyes is always a great reminder of how varied the Japanese car scene is.

BNR32 on R35 wheels, Hellaflush Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Keeping it in the family. All factory spec upgrades, well maybe not the suspension.

R.Y.O. Odyvia, D1 Final 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Simply awesome creation from the guys at R.Y.O.

Tezuka smoking it up in the Bee-R GT-R, D1 Final 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Tezuka’s final drive in his trusty BNR32. Next year he will be behind the wheel of the all-new R34 Imai-san has put together.

Slammed Forester, Hellaflush Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: One of the winners of this first Hellaflush Japan event.

Lamborghini Silhouette, City Performance Centre, Sydney, Australia: The rarest car I shot during 2011

Y34 Cedric, King of Sedan Festival 2011, Osaka, Japan: The Japanese take stance very seriously!

Roadster & Rotary Meeting 2011, Sendai Hi Land, Miyagi-ken, Japan: Perfect ending to a perfect day.

Slammed Cima, King Of Sedan Festival 2011, Osaka, Japan: J-chicks dig negative camber!

Osaka JDM CRX, Hellaflush Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: Simple but effective.

Lotus/Tissot 88B, Lotus Day Japan 2011, Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: F1 sounds dazzle the spectators

Random bike being pushed out for a shoot, Mooneyes Hot Rod & Custom Show 2011, Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama, Japan: Mooneyes is not all about cars.

Low Rider line up, Mooneyes Hot Rod & Custom Show 2011, Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama, Japan: I think drifters and guys into low riders love bright colors

Mustard 7, Streets of Sydney, Australia: A well executed project

RB30 powered Holden Premier, Sydney, Australia: Not your regular sixties family car!
