News>>ft-86 To Race At The Ring

With the reveal of production Toyota FT-86 less than two months away, Gazoo Racing will be running a prototype version of the car at this weekend's VLN endurance race at the Nurburgring. I'd say this thinly disguised race car gives our best hint yet at what the real car will look like.

Can the Tokyo Motor Show come soon enough?

Ohhh OHH! time is ticking! Car looks pretty good, but I hope that wing is only to hide the real thing

2

i see this car today at the ring in the vln training.... looks cool

3

Finally!!!!

I can't wait to see the potential of this car round the 'ring!

4

OK so now we know all the bodylines and sharp edges. Even the bumper and fog lights are shown.

The only questions left are the interior and the exact tech specs.

Will Toyota build a spicier FT86 Nür to go agaist the Genesis Coupe and the 1M Coupe??

5

Cant wait to see it

6

That wing really makes it look like a gt4. Looks good though,

7

Headlights and nose shape a clear link to the LF-A.. nice touch with the halo car affiliation

8

Lets, hope it turns out nice looking, remember Toyota, less is more, and all that milarky !.

(noted even a pic of one in my Local Toyota dealler, would you beleive!)

9

Does anyone know when the Tokyo Motorshow is?!?!?!? I have to see is this car going to be worth driving or Toyota Prius with an exhaust can and a small bad of rice coming out of it!

10

Mitsubishi FTO anyone?

11

I've been saying it and saying it. This car is more closer related to a Supra than a AE86. Look at the roof and spoiler...

Honestly, I hope they come out with a new Supra but how the @#$%^ does this even relate to an AE86? It doesn't even have a Toyota engine!

Anyways, I'll be picking up the BRZ instead.

Probably only optical illusion, but does not look the front overhand bigger than on the concept and the space between front axle and door smaller? I really fear that they use the whole subframe from subaru to save costs, which would mean too much weight up front and lower costs for awd version.

I hope i am wrong.

@Ruben

Looks is more like a supra, but the approach is more like an ae86. Fairly low powered, light weight, rear wheel drive. If they called it the supra people would expect it to be a lot bigger and have the modern equivalent of a 2j.

14

i think thats the sti wing on the new coupes right?

15

Get a hold of me when the Subaru is running laps. I've seen too much of this car and not enough of the Subaru.

16

Yes! Some testing, the Ring will make a man out of the car for sure! : )

I agree, the wing is a reminiscent of the Celica GT-4, I love sporty stock wings.

Saw it at todays VLN. I was like: wtf is this a FT86? OMG, it iiiiis! Pretty nice, interior is promissing.

18

waited so long for this car starting to lose interest, hope it does,nt come with that wing

19

I am so tired of waiting for this car on the streets.

IT LOOKS LIKE A HEAVY CAR. THANKS TMC

20

It got 3rd in SP3 class behind a Civic R and S2K. Not bad for the first time racing the Ring.

21

they should be doing there test on mt hakone or something... not the ring :/

22

From the looks of that wing I just know I'm going to hate the Scion-86-whatver styling next to the subaru.

23

the body lines actually resimble an 07- 08 hyundai tiburon
