Spotted this clip over on Jalopnik and figured it deserved a repost here. Watch as this BMW M5-powered GC8 Impreza slides around with the sounds of high revving V10 music exploding from its pipes. Based on the driving in the clip, the BMW V10 looks to be a natural fit for the old Impreza.

Too big of an engine...

4

Hell Yeah that's what I'm talking about Willis!

5

Just glad they're moving to shoe-horning big dumb motors into Subies now and not in S chassis anymore....

6

This is so right and so wrong at the same time. In your face, purists!

10

I LIKE IT!

I like it A LOT!

11

Yeah Latvia!!

13

hem, am I the only one scratching his head about the weight distribution?

15

Kind of tough, if you are into that sort of thing.

16

Nope, me too.

19

That is nice! I'd like to see pics under the hood, and under the car. It probably could be pretty fast on the track or on a hill climb. Too bad its sliding slowly around on that tiny skid pad instead...

20

Cool. I saw this video few days ago. ;) Greetings from Latvia! Btw, <3 u dev.speedhunters.com. :D

21

Very cool to see something from Latvia in Speedhunters.com ;)

22

Should have stuffed it into a 2 door 22b just to annoy everyone

23

I'd be more impressed seeing that thing taken to the limit and going for racing lines than seeing it do something that anyone with half a brain, lots of horsepower and a rwd running gear could do.

24

that sound makes me horny xD

25

Crazy swap!

26

@ MrZuffenhausen, xD - I wouldn't be surprised if that engine was in fact very light for its size. I'd be more concerned about raising the centre of gravity, which in a stock GC8 is quite low thanks to its boxer engine. It does look like those guys need to sort out some suspension issues to make it driftable at high speeds.

27

If only it was a Boxer engine that's swapped.

28

what id like to know is how they did it well gues someone has fitted a 2jz to a subbie why not a v10

29

Dear Speedhunters,

Please feature this car.

Thanks.

30

wow :O spotlight maybe?

31

I don't care if this swap doesn't make any sense, it's too awesome!

32

Normally, a Subaru engine is mounted very far forward to allow the longitudinal AWD drivetrain to work. In a RWD configuration, once could place the engine very far back, so the weight distribution is probably bang on. As Tony240Z stated, the center of gravity is probably off though.

33

Should've put a flat 12 in it imo from a F1 car. Yep. :P

34

Wow, that's impressive! And I actually like the car; it must be fun to fool around in it!

It's kind of strange, but I can hear that the V10 has a tiny little bit of a boxer sound to it. Like a rumbling sound... hmm, it must be the induction.
