that's a little far fetched, as jag's where all about style and pure performance. they were the super cars of the jet set era. the miata is just about building a cheap little sports car that gives you all the thrills of a higher end car. as well as reliability
No, the Miata (MX5) was inspired by the Lotus Elan - the original one.
