The Tectaloy International Drift Challenge – which is held right after WTAC – had only begun before it was red flagged due to a massive crash. On the drivers' exploratory laps, oil was dropped on the track which caused two cars to collide. An animated gif of the crash is after the jump.
Khudar El Haouli's immaculate S13 Silvia took the brunt of the hit. The front end was destroyed but thankfully both drivers walked away from the crash. My heart stopped the moment before the two cars collided.
There was nothing Armstrong could do to avoid the stationary car as he had already initiated. Having come all the way from New Zealand, it's devastating to see the car like this after a single exploratory lap.
Immediately after the crash, Khudar jumped out to check if Cole was OK.
It took a long time for the crews to clear the wrecks and soak up the oil that caused the accident. After an hour or so, drifting was able to resume and at the moment the teams are out there qualifying.

they did have yellow flags,but as it was run at night(damn stupid) they couldnt see them!

This Totally Sucks. I wouldnt of handled my emotions pretty well after a crash like this. I'd be sulking the whole month.

Drifting is more then a motor sport its more a skills and control forum of motor sports and a crash like this is a once in a bluemoon sight when you think that two cars sliding around a track at like 200kmh almost touching bumpers that to me is motor sport in a whole diffrent level....GO TEAM NZ

He's probably shattered. A lot of drifting is out of pocket expense for the drivers here in Aus so he would of just seen tens of thousands of dollars go to waste, the whole experience would of been pretty full on.

Oil dropped on the track from a previous car engine failure, the S13 tried to go forward first but all he got was wheel spin then tried to reverse but it was too late.
Such a bad series of events.
@t_s drifting is one of the best motorsports there is and you on the other hand are less than nothing and people like you should be banned from anything automotive related! hope you get run over and parralised today!
drifting is motorsport, but it is not racing. I think that's what those few meant who wrote that it isn't actual motorsport.
You can blame Simons 180sx fronted S14 for the oil but witnessing this crash myself and being there the whole day this was the most un-organized drift event I have ever seen! Sad to see things like this happen due to poor lighting, poor signals so on and so on... WTAC however was AMAZING!

Mate when you have entered at 140kph and then a car is suddenly held up in front of you since when is a yellow flag going to help you in the following 2 seconds before you hit ? If you watch the video you can clearly see that Khudar has JUST come to a stop from spinning out on the oil, no time for yellow flags!! That Cole has already initiated his drift and can not see Khudar's car through the smoke!! It just looks like he's smoking it up. By the time Cole see's Khudar he's pretty much on top of him and hitting oil. You can see Khudar trying to move, but he's in OIL. This is neither of the drivers fault and neither could do anything to prevent it. Before you post a comment make sure you have all the facts, and if you have something negative to say, just dont. No one wants to hear that shit.
The green Skyline guy should let the cars go off tracks and stop at sand zone there to avoid crashing each other or go inner track line.
From the video, there is some distance so the green Skyline guy can do that.
Many Japan drifter do like (avoiding each other from crashing) that no matter big or small competition if you guys got watch video about them.
That green Skyline guy knows that he make mistake what i mention above so you guys can see he disappointing at picture 1 there (Blame from his foolish act).
Conclusion, the green Skyline guy lacks of experience and response.

Cole Armstrong, the "driver of the green skyline", is a VERY experienced driver. I don't want to repeat my previous comment, but I think you need to read it a few more times! Cole cant see the spun out car through the smoke! Can you see the smoke??? It means zero vision!!! And can you read the fact that there's OIL on the track? Seriously!!!! If you knew what you were talking about you'd see that Cole does try to avoid Khudar when he sees him, which isn't physically possible TILL THE LAST SECOND!
