The simple mention of the Isle of Man already whets the appetites of gear heads worldwide. Most of the time, we hear about the two-wheeled exploits on that historic course. This time around, it's an Isle of Man tale about four wheels, a US spec 2011 Subaru WRX STI, driven by Mark Higgins. The STI was a standard 305 HP turbocharged boxer engine with added safety mods and a louder exhaust to warn spectators of the on-coming car. The speed limiter was turned off to allow a higher maximum speed.
During Higgin's attack on the 37 mile track, he reached speeds of 162mph, averaged 115mph, and completed the course with a time of 19 minutes 37 seconds.
Now, turn up that volume and enjoy!

I'd much rather be watching this on any superbike.
Cars don't work on the TT course.
Awesome video isnt it. Wish they would also release a Full Lap video, that would be awesome.

here a bit of footage, where it allmost went terribly wrong! not the same car, but hey, it's a subaru
Love the vid and how he held it together on that dip. I wouldn't mind taking my AE86 through that one day.
"with added safety mods and a louder exhaust to warn spectators of the on-coming car"
Sounds like sneaky OEM talk for chassis stiffening and increased power output.
Amazing! What a drive.
EEEEF me !!!!! More Suspense than a horror movie =O
Could've been way better, too much marketing got involved trying to make it look like an action film
Try that in a production fiesta, mr. Block...
what? Production fords are slow shite?
yes. indeed.
Im not a japanese car fan...but I must say the sound of a subaru is the next best sounding thing to a good ole muscle car or Harley. Awesome video.
@Berry van Beek: Same car, that big moment in your link was one of the practice laps.
I wish they hadn't dubbed the sound in afterwards, made the whole clip seem a bit tacky.
