I've just been reading through our friends' at Redline Magazine's Facebook page where they have reported some interesting news. They received word that the UK government maybe introducing new rules and legislation within the next year which would allow for the temporary removal of speed limits and roads to be closed for MSA approved competition purposes. Could we possibly see a return of the likes of the touring car races on the streets of Birmingham ? Maybe a WTCC on the streets ? Time will tell …

RWD, 500BHP and a dollop of Opposite Lock. That is what Touring Car racing should involve.

6

C'mon Paddy, there ARE WTCC race on street courses. This year's Portuguese race is smack in the middle of Porto.

My apologies as that sentence was badly phrased, just pointing out this could be a huge boost for motorsport in the UK - Paddy

Would be good to have some street racing in the uk again. Also it will be funny to see the number of cars with suspension damage due to the millions of pot holes in the road!

Unless they bring back Group A regs for touring cars it'd hardly be a return to the "good ol' days".

12

Agreed, Bring back Group A regs, and group B rally :D

Jesus Paddy, you should be ashamed you heard this through such a chavscum source as that.

A modern incarnation of the Avon Tour of Britain would be nifty.
