Car Spotlight>> Sva Imports R34 Gt-r

The SVA Imports R34 is quite a car. Not only is it a crazy powerful example of the breed but it also has quite a story behind it.

The car is a 2002 model GT-R V-Spec II, with only 1400km on the clock. It was originally built in Japan for a customer who wanted a very high power R34 GT-R, but funding for the original build ran out and the car was offered for sale to Raef of SVA Imports and within a few weeks it was sitting in SVA's compound near Dover.

The car had already been fitted with an ultra rare (one of only two ever made) HKS high deck block, along with an uprated gearbox, roll cage and along with a Top Secret front bumper and carbon lip and original Z-Tune carbon bonnet. The Do-Luck front wings were added by Raef along with a full carbon under car aero package.

SVA Imports had the UK Time Attack series in mind when they imported the car. However with major component failures on nearly every outing which accumulated in a bottom end failure, it became apparent something was inherently wrong with the original build.

On investigation it was found that the oil feeds for the turbos were woefully insufficient and one of the major causes of the failures. Enough was enough and Raef stripped the engine down to a bare block to start from scratch.

The spec list now reads like something out of Shift 2 Unleashed rather than a real life build. Fearing that the original HKS con-rods may have gone oval, some one-off custom Carrillo rods were fitted.

Along with twin GT3540 turbos with HKS racing wastegates and a aluminum triple layer radiator.

Fully machined and modified head with complete HKS step pro V valves,
HKS metal head gasket, HKS oil pump and oil cooler kit, HKS gt twin entry intercooler, Top
Secret inlet plenum..

HKS fuel rail and regulator with 720cc main injectors plus six more 440cc injectors running through a twin injector adapter, all fed by a twin external Bosch pump and a Sard in-tank pump then looked after by and an HKS F-con V pro management to allow the running of 12 injectors,

The list of exotic unobtainable parts goes on and on.

At the time very few people had experience of the HKS F-con V pro management system, so Mr Ito of Do-Luck Japan was brought over to map the car on SVA' dyno. The result? An incredible 1140hp at the wheels @ 2.6 bar boost!

As you can see the car is not a hardcore racer, It has a roll cage fitted but still retains the creature comforts that Nissan intended. The seats are now Recaro SP-G items but it's still very recognizable as an R34 GT-R in there.

Raef fitted the brace of Deffi gauges adorning the the top of the windscreen along with a HKS torque split controller, turbo timer and knock amp.

Along with a Quaife 6 speed sequential straight cut gearbox.

The wheels carry on the 'unobtainable' theme of the build, Top Secret limited edition Volk LE37s.

The car is sitting on Ohlins suspension and S&S pillow ball front arms.

1140hp takes a fair bit of stopping. I'm pretty sure the Tarox ten pots up front and the six pots at the rear are up to the job though.

After spending a couple of hours in the SVA Imports compound with the car I am left with the feeling the R34 has no purpose in life. Too crazy for the public roads yet not hardcore enough to be a racer. This is a feeling shared by Raef because as you read this the SVA Imports R34 is being stripped down. The component parts will be sold off and the car converted back to a very low mileage, near stock R34.

So why go through all the trouble of a build like this just to strip it down again?  When George Mallory was asked "why do you want to climb Everest?" he simply replied "Because it's there" If you asked Raef why he built the mega power R34 I'm sure he would reply "Because I could".

What a sick car ruined by painting the mesh blue

2

zomfg .. as if the mesh ruins something on that ride ... who cares ? no one will be able to see the mesh if you zoom past him with that big whoooosh from these sick turbos ... you could paint that mesh pink and still no one cares ... Amazing build, which car has so sick potential even after over ten years of production stop ...

3

how is 1140 horses at teh wheels not crazy enough to be a racer....

4

It's not that 1140 is not crazy enough (in fact, the power delivery would probably be too brutal to be used on the track even if it was allowed by the racing class), it's the fact that it still has an interior and lots of other heavy stuff. I, for one, would love to have that beast on the street. Go to Dubai and whup all the Bugattis? Yes please.

5

it sure is crazy enough but its not hard core enough but still, that wouldnt take much doing stripping out the insides? why not do that. this should not be stripped down to a stock r34, it annoys me reading that

6

Is it fast? :D

7

*looks for jaw somewhere on the floor*

That is one INSANE build! Shame about it being stripped and sold. I'd personally convert it into a dedicated Track-day car with full slicks and SuperGT-style Widebody aero

8

those pink graphics on the side in the dyno pic...just terrible.

9

wow wow wow wow...

10

Didn't HKS make 20 of those Hi Deck Blocks?

Rumour says its robust over 1500hp and is capable of 14.000 RPM!

11

HKS made 20 hi-decks, not 2.

12

1140 whp is actually TOO crazy for a race car (unless you're going drag racing). For grip, there has to be a perfect balance between power and handling for the car to be successful or even competitive.

The rest of the car wasn't crazy enough for several reasons: 1)No racing slicks. 2)No adjustable aero. 3)Still close to stock interior. 4)No HALON system. 5)No tow hooks. 6)Unless it wasn't mentioned, there was also no adjustable suspension which is DEFINTELY required if you want to run a high-power car. 7)Lastly, no racing harnesses.

Still though, I'd take it in a heartbeat and make it work on the street.

13

On one hand its a shame not to see beautiful cars like that used to there full performance potential, bury on the other I wouldn't want to see such rare parts destroyed or damaged. A dilemma indeed. Raef truly has a Passion for cars.

14

finding a stock skyline is like finding coffee at KFC.

VERY well put together, now i must bow the almighty power of the kick ass turbo's.

15

Amazing built... its like a hardcore-exotic-JDM-street-racer!!

BTW, Ross, do you have any pictures of the twin injectors set up? I've been searching for this kind of setup for quite some time and now you're posting it!! Cool!

16

No filter on the turbo intake??

17

wow james, I could see complaining about the wheels, or the color of the WHOLE car but the mesh... seriously?

18

that spec list is insane!!! friggin crazy, and the mesh ruined the car WTF are you on?!!! seriously?!

19

there must be someone in the world that would purchase this as a complete car!!!

20

i guess my comment didnt come through first time.

But didnt HKS make 20 of these Hi Decks? As far as ive read about it, it where blocks designed for the HKS R33 Drag car, , the high deck kit consists of a filled and reinforced N1 block, HKS liners, HKS spacer plate, special pistons, conrods and full counter crankshaft etc.Should be 1500hp proof, and rumours go that it should be capable of 14.000rpm!

21

i just read on SVAs website that its being sold for £75k. if you think thats alot then lets remind ourselves of how much a veyron is, or even a 458 which this would spank! bargin!!!

22

this is what cars should be all about

23

PrplBeastFrmEast: This car is in no way a race car. If you think hp is the only thing that makes a racer you need to start reading. lol

Wanna see an R34 based racer type M Speed GT-R into google... enjoy.

24

love it.. the fact that there doesn't seem to be much room under bonnet made me smile! shame it gonna be stripped down! - i'd love those wheels by the way..

25

everything but V-CAM!

26

I really wish they'd paint that mesh black

27

It has 10pot tarox rear brakes as well

28

It did have tow hooks and a full extinguisher system fittwd including electrical cut offs. Was used for some early uk timeattack rounds with harnesses fitted. Yes suspension is adjustable high quality ohlins. Aero kit is fixed but also comprehensive when fitted. As ross said the car sits in the middle of many things and needs an interesting future but is for sale whole or in parts from sva.

29

There must be one crazy guy to buy it in UAE or Dubai. It's a shame to strip it off.

30

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEH.

31

Id rather take the Evos!

32

Incredible build! Amazing look! Any desktop wallpapers??

33

sick car, impressive, but with how many one off parts and how crazy the setup is i was expecting to see a little more power than just 1140

lets not forget that supras (2jzgte) have been breaking 1k rwhp for a while an with less one off parts an setups

all in all still awsome an its great to see something out of the norm setup-wise.

34

I have to agree that this car is devoid of its purpose. While the motor has gone completely bonkers, the chassis doesn't seem to be reinforced enough when that beast of an engine is unleashed, IMHO. And two GT3540 turbos? Sure, 1140HP is cool, but not everyone seems to want to conquer the 1320. Response may be compromised though, but when its got a sequential tranny it shifts faster than you can blink! V-CAM WILL CURE THE LAG! (Or can it?)

Anyway, rants aside, this is one helluva car, let alone a R34 GT-R! Props to Raef for building this beast, and I applaud his pursuit for fine engineering. I'd like to see the end result when Raef strips it down and rebuilds it again, and hope it turns out to be one hot ride. Can we have a feature on that if it ever happens?

35

part out?? are you kidding me?? use that fukin car and post some damn vids on youtube..then part out lol

36

That is one legit car :/

Its a shame they won't continue working on it to make it a hardcore racer. Maybe they can spend the money they make on those Evo V's in the background :D

37

its an overdone skyline. too much going on and the grill, i agree, is ghastly.

38

SVA tend to go for safe power and reliability, yes it can be pushed further, but a little pointless in its current 'middle ground' spec.

Car is currently in 1 piece - but being taken apart soon unless a sensible offer is made for it - doubt it will take 75k to buy it.......

They just buiolt an Evo6 for TimeAttack UK & Holland - hopefully Ross will want to shoot it too..

39

While this car is missing points to be a valid drag/t.a. car there are other froms of motosprot where it would fit well.

this thing would be perfect as a Mile Car, or Wangan Racer. but those sports seem to be missed cause its a Big $$ game...

hope someone buys and pwns in it thought....
