News>>ft-86 To Be Scion Ft-s In Usa?

The net has been abuzz lately with news and rumors about everyone's favorite concept car, the Toyota FT-86. The latest news is that the car will be known as the Scion FT-S when it hits dealers in the United States, not the FR-S as previously speculated. The news also suggests that the FT-S will be powered by a 2.5 liter engine instead of 2.0.

What do you guys think about FT-S as a name for this hugely anticipated car?

Whatever the name is, we just want to drive it! We should know more after the US-spec car debuts at the New York Auto Show.

That car is so full of win!

2

I don't like the driving character of the Subaru 2.5 boxer motor. Lots of lag, and difficult to drive in town gently. Very fast, but in a small light sports car I rather have a motor that's more tractable. Straight 4, or V6 with a high horsepower bias over torque. 6 speed manual.

3

Please don't make it a Scion. Please no. Scion is marketed toward people who want to look stylish, think they have a sports car, but go slow and have no performance pedigree. This is supposed to be an actual sports car. I could scarcely take it seriousl if it wore the Scion badge. It would become a lot like the mustang: every teenager gets one and wrecks it, then gets another. Please say no to the Scion badge.

Oh, and while you're at it, Toyota, please stop trying to fool kids into thinking the tC is a sports car. It's not.

4

It's going to be beast overall...

5

It's going to be beast overall. And the fact that its a Scion, makes it even better.

6

i will never buy a scion ther for girls or gay guys who think they r fast. i plan on buying one(a real ft86) wen they come out.if they r made buy scion i can tell u that they just lost one sell

7

Toyota could really use a "coolness" boost and this car would be a perfect one to do it. Scion already has enough tight jeaned kids drinking java and smoking cigarettes. Let them keep todays "trendy sports cars" and give the actual performance orientated crowd something back for standing by you after you dropped the supra and called that spaceship looking celica cool. oh and give the damn thing a turbo.

8

This is so wack!! I dont like Toyota, but I really hate Scion! This would have been a more respectable car had it been branded as a Toyota!!

9

So basically we are getting a fwd version here in the states......

10

Toyota has effectively F'ed things up again. What could have been the company's return to making 2 door sports cars has now turned into just another money making scheme. And to think that the same company produced wonders like the AE86, Celica, and Supra...

I hope Toyota finally decides not to even put this into production. It's a good car but compared to the coupes that it will have to go up against (like the Nissan 370z) it is nothing more than mediocre. The styling suggests that it is the (heavily) watered down version of the Lexus LFA, with much less power and quite unimpressive body lines.

Toyota needs to go back to the drawing board and rekindle the Supra platform or come up with something completely new and better than...this.

11

come on, really!?! why scion? I personally think It would sell far better under the Toyota brand. GOD i hate scion.

12

Not branding this as a Toyota is 100% FAIL.

Seriously.....don't call it a Supra (let that marque rest), but DO call it a TOYOTA ________????

FTS sux as a name as well but at least make it Toyota FT-S

then come out with a TRD version of it!

13

As an 86 owner this car makes me sad for more than one reason. Get that damn flat 4 out of there and don't badge it as a Scion.

14

Been following the FT-86 on and off. This is a huge let down. Please Toyota label it a Toyota!

15

Let scion die. It will happen eventually, just speed up the process....

16

NOOO Scion! I don't care what they call the car I just want it produced already. I hate the whole scion movement with toyota. What happened to Toyota? Is this car not beige enough for you i suppose so you pass it off to scion. Too sporty to be a Toyota i guess seeing they're real performance cars died off years and years ago now. I hate scion theyre whole marketing campaign of being "unique" and classifying the tc as a sports car? Give me a break! If I ever bought this car it would be the Subaru version because thats what it basically is if it has a Subaru engine & drive train then truly it is a pretty much Subaru wearing a different badge.

17

If it's a Scion, I would swap to Toyota badges at the moment it lefts the dealer lol...

18

ugh. this car keeps getting worse with every article i read. just to echo some of the previous comments... the Scion badge completely kills any chance of me EVER considering this car. which is saying something, because i'll be graduating college around the time it hits dealerships... also, this article says "the FT-S will be powered by a 2.5 liter engine instead of 2.0" but mentions no turbo...? will it or will it not come boosted? i keep hearing things both ways. either way though, moot point if they badge it a Scion.

19

as long as its rear wheel drive im cool with it. its better than nothing. if its fwd than toyota truly sucks and this car should be in the trash with honda CRZ

20

It just proves how completely out of touch the bigwigs are.

After years of everybody bashing on their blandness, they finally have a car made to be the spiritual successor to the most beloved Toyota ever -- and they badge it as a Scion!?!?? Hahaha. Any 10 year old kid could manage Toyota better than those overpaid idiots.

Well it's better for us though. Nobody's going to drop $30k for a scion. They could've easily asked that much for a Toyota FT86.

21

I'll just wait for the Nissan S16, should be more fun, if they ever decide to make it. I'll stick to my S13 for now!!!

22

yeah when i found out that it was to be badge a scion i almost put my fist through a wall...and now that i found out it was gonna be powered by a bigger engine pisses me off even more....i love toyota but they lost me....

23

Wow can't wait for it will be like GT5 but in real life lol

24

i have a scion myself.

and i dont think toyota should market this as a scion carry on the ae86 pls toyota do me that 1 favor

25

Scion is killing Toyota.

26

great!! :D

I was expecting to see one of these participate in Formula D next year! :D

27

Guess I'll wait for the Subaru version....

Keep it a Toyota. Let me guess, the 86 isn't vanilla enough to be called a Toyota?

28

They should just make it the Toyota FT-86. Toyota needs a sports car! Stupid Scion would just ruin this car. People would constantly be saying, "Nice tC." I'd constantly be correcting them, "It's a Toyota FT-86 Dammit!"

29

Hopefully it will be appraised on its merits and not compared (for better or worse) to a mid-1980s econobox. Toyota has done a great job encouraging the connection to previous enthusiast favourites amongst its production cars, but this really has nothing in common with the old Corolla platform.

30

NOOOOOO! why does the toyota name have to be tied to flowers and saving the planet safely??!!

i want like it used to be! supras, mr2s, corollas, cressidas,

31

It's understandable, Scion does need a new line of power in their name. Let's see how it turns out.

32

NO!!! No Scion name badge!!!! Toyota FT-86 is perfectly fine...and no craptacular motor should go in it either!! Screw Scion...

33

Really? Keep it Toyota.

34

I actually wouldn't mind if the FT-86 is sold as a Scion here. It's not really going to make a difference in my opinion.

35

scion...they'll mess it up somehow...make it front wheel drive or something.

36

scion...they'll mess it up somehow...make it front wheel drive or something.

37

I haven't liked Toyota's "performance" cars since the mkIV Supra. I hope for Toyota's sake that this is a good performance car...

I think the name of a car is unimportant as long as it performs well!

38

More wasted bandwidth on a car that is never going to go into production. And the press never seems to know when their chain is being yanked. News flash: FT-86 III, third generation prototype to be shown at the 2012 auto show. FT-86 IV, fourth generation prototype to be shown at the 2013 auto show. And so on.

39

if it is an FF, it is just a TC with a body kit IMO. If it is an FR, I would consider it. If Subaru puts out an STi version, I will sell my EVO, quit SoCalEvo and EVOm, denounce all my EVO friends and rock the STi version!!

40

i do NOT like that it is a scion the AE 86 witch was the inspiration for this car was a toyota and for that reason i believe that this car should cary a toyota badge.

41

Looks nice, would rather they call it what it is: Celica.

42

Oh NNNNNNNNNNOES! Its called a Scion! Booo Whoo...I think its safe to say 90% of the posts are from people that wont actually buy the car regarless of what its badaged under. You know what needs to die? All you NOSing Civic lovers that jumped on the Nissan bandwagon, Yup!

I vote to change the name to:

Donkey Kong Fruit Salad

This is like saying Blah blah blah Toyota needs a LUXURY car, Ya its called Lexus. Oh AND if your worried about what people will think it is or people will think about you driving uncool a OMG SCION

YOU, YOU, YOU need to get some self confidence and NOT CARE what people think! Have some self rescpect and go buy some more :-D SkInNy JeAnZZZZZZ

43

No!!!!! Why scion please please please don't make it

A hella fail me too car for highschool kids like the TC :(.

Like so many people I have been waiting on this since the

First concept. I really wanted this to be the first new car I

Ever owned I love my old ae86 and my old Subrau XT and I

Really wanted to love a new ft86 but not from scion

44

45

i really dont care is they call it a scion. its still a toyota. just like a scion xb is still a toyota bb with a different badge. but if they make it front wheel drive or price it over 25k ill kill some one.

46

I could honestly care less what badge the car wears. As long as it has a 2.5 liter turbo boxer motor and RWD combo it sure to be a crowd pleaser. Its like the new Genesis from Hyundai, I mean yeah its a Hyundai but its a badass Hyundai.

47

I agree, DON'T make this a scion! That kills the whole image of this car in my opinion.

48

I agree, DON'T make this a scion! That kills the whole image of this car in my opinion.

49

Ughh please dont make it a Scion... this is the car that is gonna revive the name of Toyota in the tuner world.

Scions have already been ruined by cheap skate ricers and their scion nation... -_- I have never seen one nice looking XA XB TC rolling around other then at car shows and they are still poorly modded..

Thats why you dont see many big name tuners work with scion.. when have you heard of a Greddy TC? HKS XB? its just bad rep..

Only guys were Rado and Tanner and they are factory backed but they threw out almost everything but the shell

also, putting a Boxer engine is a horrible idea... They are strong motors no doubt but they can only push out so much until you need to go internals.. not so good for tuning as boxer internals arent cheap.

50

I think I'd rather buy a genesis based on the new body style for scion

51

I'm with Officer Dan, this pays homage to the venerable 8-6 sure, but it's obviously the new Celica, and don't kid yourselves, If they sell it as a scion stateside people will buy them just the same and those who care will swap out the scion badges for JDM Toyota jewelery, They'll get that little nod from other enthusiasts when they see them, just like the Red JDM Honda badges were in the good old days ;)

52

If its Scion might as well name it Scion fm-l hahaha.

53

PLEASE NOT A SCION

54

PLEASE NOT A SCION

55

Call it the Toyota Trueno and get it over with!!!!!!

56

A rose by any other name is still a rose.

I'm hoping Speedhunter does a complete review on it as soon as it comes out. I want the whole shebang. Comparisons with Miata's, the AE86, S-chassis, S2000 and Genesis Coupe. Don't let Jalopnik out do you on your own niche.

57

Jajaja toyota has no balls to put a good sport car on the market I think that the ft86 was a joke from the start but marketing the us one scion and fwd makes it more funny jajaja

58

I'm a tehnician for Toyota and I hope they don't release it as a scion! Subie heart? Mmm, doesn't get any better than that. Can't wait to work on those!

59

Btw.. Scions are wack. Tc's are just four cyl. Corollas in a new dress. I'd buy an xrs model before I got any scion. Eww.

60

Wow so much Scion hate. So much for car enthusiasts these days. Even though I drive an audi, I too look forward to this FT-86 becoming a production car, Toyota or Scion badge makes no difference.

61

@Hachihead86 - Your spelling and grammar implies you're not even in the target demographic. What's the use in complaining if no one can understand you?

@Dubteez - Toyota will do whatever it takes to keep the "tight jean" kids happy because guess what, they buy our cars. While other car companies give people whatever they want, fail, then ask for a bail out; Toyota has at least made steps towards giving people cars they need. I'll be the first to admit that Scion has not gone in the right direction, but a success with the FT could save that entire brand. Toyota can't sell a stripped down, crank window "R" version but Scion might be able to pull it off.

I'm a self confessed car nut and remain a purist when it comes to driving. My car is old enough to drink, RWD and gets driven as hard as possible. Yet even I understand that the cars we all want are never going to be produced again. There will never be another AE86, MR2 or Supra. Those cars were built in an era that allowed companies to produce them. The current "Industry" does not allow for things to happen the way sport enthusiasts' desire. Hyundai gave it their best effort with the Genesis coupe and we repaid them with horrible sales. Honestly, were lucky Toyota/Subaru even took a chance. I suggest everyone get excited, even if you're not, least we ever see another Silvia type car.

And seriously, who cares what badge is on the car? It will literally be the exact same car underneath.

62

I don't care what's it called or who's it from. The idea oof a cheap rwd sportcar from the same people who brought you the ae86 is just the perfect example of whag cocould start tto bring names like Silvia, "SX", and S2000 back around. Bring on the 80-90's again, and bring them now!

64

As an 86 owner this car makes me sad for more than one reason. Get that damn flat 4 out of there and don't badge it as a Scion.

67

the only reason the car is being released under the scion name is because the company is struggling. if you like toyota but hate scion (by the way, youre an idiot! theyre exactly the same) then change the badge! problem solved. HOPEFULLY it will handle nice, and they should make a turbo model (if not someone else will make a kit), but the tuning scene needs a boost and i hope this car can do that! i just cant wait to see the awd version by subaru!

68

Leave the name FT-86. Kind of a cool homage. Also, make it turbocharged!

69

name it scion hachiroku lol

70

I call BS. No source for one, and two some of these things were already confirmed to be the opposite(such as Subaru being RWD and revealing at Geneva).

Lots of BS info about this car recently..

71

Straight from Toyota headquarters, at a meeting for Canadian Toyota Dealers the long delayed FT-86//FR-S was confirmed as a Scion for North America and not a Toyota. While working for Toyota I always took issue with the fact that they are so easily led around by their marketing company, constantly failing to realize that they are doing pointless marketing for the sake of marketing with the Scion badge especially in a tiny market like Canada. The announcement that the FT-86/FR-S was going to be sold as a Scion was a real blow to morale at our dealership, another missed step by corporate robo-execs who have lost touch with the market.

72

its gonna be sick but i dont think it will ever have the legacy a mk4 supra does.

73

Haaahahahaahahaha this is freakin hilarious. Alla youse guyz crying and wetting the bed because this WILL be a Scion!

What you don't get is the irony here. Think....how many people originally hated on NISSAN when they loved the "original" Datsun (just like you guys are doing now)?

DEAL with it. You are getting a BIGGER engine, and just a name change. *facepalm* OH THE HORROR!!!!!!!

74

Lucky me we don't have scioni dealer in the middle east.... So I guess we'll get it as toyota fr-s :D

Scion or not I will enjoy driving it every day, just make the damn thing!

75

2.5 sounds good to me! I really hope its turbo'd I will def be buying one as soon as they come out !!!

76

I personally never was a big fan of the FT-86 concept but I still was looking forward to it because I knew that the tuner crowd really wanted it and it was something that Toyota really needed but now that I hear that its going to be a Scion... I just can't help but laugh my hardest while I feel remorse for the Toyota lovers. I honestly don't think that Toyota knows what they're doing. For example... First they come out with a Toyota Supra concept that was to be a turbocharged V6 or an NA V8 powered, aluminium bodied, rear wheel drive respectable "Mark V". While that was happening, Toyota saw the success of the Nissan GTR and must've said "as if our Mark V concept has a chance". So instead they rebuilt it with a carbon fiber body and threw a V10 with a special transmission into it while badging it as a Lexus and claiming it was a supercar so they can give it a $375-400k price tag. Now they have another reasonable sportscar concept that could bring in sales from the mass majority but instead they're going to piss it away by badging it as a Scion? Its just hilarious how much of a fail Toyota is. I can't wait to see how much they're going to price their "Scion FT-S" for... knowing Toyota... possibly $50-60k.

77

The name is interesting, but FT-86 sounds more interesting :D

FT-S = Fuck This - Shit xD

78

They should make it a corolla and bring the name back to its roots as a fun sport car

79

Honestly who cares if it is a badged a scion or toyota? Make it lightweight, rwd, and put a nice LSD on it.

80

I had the chance to meet a north america toyota executive back in 2002 when i worked at a winery while i was in smog school.. After work there limo had parked next to my first s14 And is i was leaving work he asked me for directions. I finally had my chance to ask him. " what happened to toyota? why no RWD fun platform.?" He seid to me. " guys like you dont buy new cars from toyota . you go on craigslist and buy junk or had kids.- People with kids by mini vans. Thats were the market is" --" you dont like are scion line?! - what an ass..

81

the real question is will they drift with the boxer engine or put nascar v8s and tubeframe them into some unatainable car..and yea toyata cant build a 4 cyl? why subaru motors ?and scion? digusting i will keep my s14

82

But if they called it a Toyota it would have to be re-called. I don't actually mean that. It would be neat if it was turbo'd but wouldn't that pay less respect to the original AE86? Regardless of branding, I am excited for this car and will judge it on how it performs not the name. After all it should be an affordable RWD and that is really part of the spirit that they are trying to re-capture.

83

By the state of things, it will be something IF this car really comes out as it's intended to be - a fun small coupé.

84

As a Supra owner, I feel that Toyota will never get it right. They don't concentrate on their own brand "Toyota" and letting it just slowly deteriorate over time as they consider Scion the flagship for sports cars. I am sorry to the Scion owners but if your car is branded a "SCION" its not a sports car. PERIOD. Toyota really needs to get with the program. From the time period of the 1967 (2000gt) to right about mid 90's (US market) after the sales of the JZA80 Toyota was putting out some serious heat in their sport car dept. Now its just a shame. I am just glad to own a part of Toyota's last of the super cars they produced. I think Toyota is afraid to venture out into the sport car industry as sales of the JZA80 really didn't make a profit with $45-$50k price tags and suffered from it. But honestly, its one of the most sought after cars on the market that keep its value and the ingenuity involved to hit 800hp with stock internals and a upgraded clutch on the 6spd.... I hope Scion dies and Toyota can stop d*cking around with sport cars that no one can afford or no one wants to actually wants to use as a performance oriented vehicle. I am a lot of others are and have been for years disappointed in Toyota. I hope someone from Toyota high in up authority reads everyone's responses in here and speaks up to the big boss and changes the direction Toyota is taking their sports cars in.

85

o and the fact that its using a suby motor instead of toyota building a new motor pissed me off from the very beginning

86

Ok i'm calling it, after the ft-86 gets released junkyards will be stacked to the brim with them because you know scion sales people will call it a sports car and that its predecessor is one of the best drift cars in the world and then little timmy watches tokyo drift and decides that wrapping his new car around a telephone pole seems like an awesome thing to do. Ugh i just had a miserable thought, what if they start showing plans for a scion supra at some point? *smashes face against wall*

87

WOW! seriously....scion is nothing but toyota's rejection cars. making this a scion would be a BIG FAIL! ill stick with the subi version over the "scion version".. TOYOTA + SCION= FAIL!

88

All Toyota wants is money money money... They have no Idea what they're doing and they need to step up their game.

after this im your rss reader

90

This car is a joke. It doesn't matter if it gets badged as a Scion or a Toyota, it will still be a heavy and overpriced coupe powered by a Subaru engine. Not worthy of any reference to the AE86 chassis.

Car industry sucks nowadays, not to mention the huge amount of ugly and bloated cars, even the sporty ones.

91

I'll buy the one lexus or subaru puts out

92

I'll buy the one lexus or subaru puts out

93

What ever its marketed under or called its always going to be the FT-86!

94

Tell us when it has a price sticker on the window. Otherwise, quit wasting everyone's time.

95

honestly, this car looks nothing like the ae86, has a different engine, wtf is toyota thinking. And scion is a piece is shit anyway, dont kill the image of this car anymore than you already have.

so disappointed. I was so excited when i heard about an ae86 revival, insted we get this sub par peice of trash they are trying to pass off as a sucessor to the ae86. LAME

96

Who cares what they name it???

Scion, Lexus... Toyota, wake up people, it's ALL THE SAME thing.

The 2.5L engine is a dog in NA form, lets hope they decide to go with the higher reving 2liter.

97

I know it's hard to think far enough into the future but you have to realize that even if the first generation of this car isn't the reincarnation of Badass McHardness, it's going to have a multi-cycle production run. When have you ever seen Toyota release a chassis and then bail on it within the first generation? If the car comes out and everyone generally dislikes it, there are ways to get the development staff to change the next one. The new tC has a six speed for example. It might not be the Chris Rado street version everyone wants, but it's a change in the right direction. So many people complain but never offer a real solution to fixing an issue.

98

I'd be really concerned that they plan to use the same 2.5 out of the tC, which would make it just plain slow. Even in an FR setup that engine is quite weak compared to it's size, a higher powerband 2 liter would make for much more fun.

But it will probably end up a FF 2.5 since it would seem most people don't understand that a bigger size of an engine doesn't necesarily mean faster, and front wheel drive makes the whole thing a lot more manageable for the average Sunday driver. Remember most brand new sports cars end up sold to people over 30 that will never even get the engine to the red line, they just want the experience of the vehicle, the performance is just a talking point.

Pioneered by Toyota Motor Corporation in their sales campaigns resurrecting popular sporty nameplates from motoring history, dangling them in front of the public and enthusiasts, but never putting them into production, because the goal is not to produce the car, but to distract the public from the fact that Toyota does not have a sporty model and has no intention of producing a sporty model. Hell yeah. x1000

103

HOW HAS NO ONE CAUGHT THIS?!?!? Scions top model, the TC starts at 17k. this car has a MSRP estimated at $22k thats a $5k higher than their top model and thats just the base model! How are they expecting to sell a car that STARTS at $5k more than their top model?! this is supposed ot be their "budget" class. could this mean that his car is going to be around $19-20k?!?!?! hopefully!

104

NOOOOOOOOOO! NOOOOOOO! Please NO! Toyota please.....

105

FT-S....For The SEX

Sike nah, everyone here is right, Scion will probably fuck it up and make it strictly left front wheel drive or something.

Toyota is dead in my eyes for performance.

106

hioefully it will keep the toyota and FT-86 badges over here in europe :D otherwise i think a lot of guys in USA will be fast on secureing JDM / EU badges and labelling :)

107

My sources in Toyota confirmed this months ago. It will be coming out as a Scion and it will not be turbo'd. The engineers in Japan were not happy with how the car performed and a new projected is in the works to actually replace the AE86.

108

Toyota if you are listening, please do not bring this in as a Scion. I do not want this car to have the cheap plasticy interior feel that all Scion models have. I also do not want to be listening to every single crack in the road because in order to make the Scion cars cheap they cheaped out on sound deading.

109

Just something about Scion that doesn't do it for me. I always think of the brand as cheap transportation. I was thinking about getting one of these but if it rolls out as a Scion forget about it. I wonder how many pure FT enthusiast will still buy this thing and put JDM Toyota badging on it.

110

A scion.................

If i was a college kid with a fohawk and a rat tail with a fixed gear id buy a scion. Thankfully im not

come on toyota, add a sports to your line instead of boring ass gas sippers. I want to see if a toyota badge on this car. Not a lame ass scion one...

dissapointing..

111

Again.. reading over half the comments and pretty much all the enthusiast here agree that badging this car under a Scion is horrible idea.. its such a bad name for a much anticipated car.

If i was to buy this car Toyota would have lost my sale to Subaru

it was funny being told i was not any part of a target market. He quickly generalized me as a redneck tard with a yard full of cars or a baby maker who will buy a shitty 40k minvan and drive around miserable and soul less . I respect his honest opinion to a degree. But if i was given the opportunity to buy a new RWD toyota or a Dodge challenger ? - im pretty sure id go with the dodge. The Japanese super power needs to get off its high horse.

113

I am disappoint.

114

If u make the price to 15k. Then scion it is.

115

i dont give a hell what its badged as, i just want the damn thing out already.

116

Thank god I didn't waste my time reading the hundred or so comments and complaints. Like it or not, Toyota will build whatever they believe is profitable for them. Whether it be under the traditional Toyota or "marketing driven" Scion brand. They didn't become the largest automaker in 08 by following trends. Besides, if they actually listened to you whiny bitches about what to build, non of you would buy it anyway. They'd just end up footing the bill for research, development, marketing/advertising, and production cost with not much for a return. I say just wait, and if you don't like what they build, don't buy it. Sucka.

If Toyota was know previously as a manufacturer that makes great reliable cars and awesome sports cars, now Toyota will be know as a great let down. If they keep going in this direction, TOYOTA will turn into KYA or Ssang Young crap. My message towards Toyota: if you guys market this car as a Scion FT-S with a boxer engine and FWD; if any of that comes out on the market instead of really bringing the rebirth of the great AE86, than you guys just piss on the masses of TOYOTA fans across the world and bring shame to the great TOYOTA legends, legacy and history...

For the rest of us, fans and petrol-heads, the Scion FT-S crap would mean another let down and more cutting, slicing and welding to turn crap into gold, turn it into the car that we really expected and dream of... Sad, TOYOTA, sad...

122

Tell us what the rumor will be for 2014 or 2017, when the still unreleased FT-Whatever is once again cited to be sold under a different name by a different division. The only consistent thing about this is the rate at which press releases and rumors pop up for this imaginary car that Toyota (or anyone else) is never going to build or sell.

Looks like it came out of the Nissan factory very 370Z/GTR esk lack of creativity there.

A toyota that is powered by subaru and looks like a Nissan... FTL...

124

call it a toyota and bring back the heart and soul of the original ae86..the 4AG!!!!!!!

125

when Toyota don't know themselves, what is happening with this project. There are only rumors and nothing true about this project. This car is nothing except social networks.

126

NOOOO SCION!!

127

I don't have any good comments for this car, but will say at least we have the Lexus line holding down any form of 'Sports Car' than it's parent company has ever produced. Quite sad, but it is a marketing strategy, and that that's understandable given the majority of US citizens viewing Toyota as a safe, family orientated, and reliable car.

To tell you the truth though, think Hyundai can be considered more sporty than Toyota now given their Genesis Coupe and new Sonata Turbo (I'd rock it over Camry/Corolla any day).

If this is going to be a tribute to the 86 then why insult it by making it a scion. If this does become a scion then I will just wait for the subaru version
