Back in September, the guys from WORLD Racing took the Team Need for Speed AWD Scion tC out to Miller Motorsports Park in Utah for a hot lap and recorded a time of 1:59.
The car seems like it hauls all sorts of rear-end and sounds amazing. We’re very much looking forward to see what the car will do this year.

Hate to ask, but why does it seem like it couldn't pass up a well-winged Civic until the straight?

That track is full of long straights. WOW.
Chris Rado and Scion World Racing is a disappointment. Auto and can't even pass HaSport's 300HP EG. So Sad.

Looks like Chris Rado should stick to 10 and 2, foot through the grill, straight-line racing. I know late apexing is expected with FWD but that "hot lap" was a joke.

Was that civic just as fast in the corners? Or did it just look like that in the video?
Wasn't a god start to the lap anyway. I would suggest he realised he'd probably get in the Civic's way and destroy it's lap, therefore just sat back while keeping things warm for another lap!

Yeah, seems like he was coasting in a lot of those turns. Sure he could go much faster!! Guess he was waiting for better moments to pass, aka straight lines. Tage's Civic was the only car hot lapping in that video.

doesnt seem like much of a hot lap, and like someone said he didnt get a good start to the lap. he clearly catches the civic and then lets up. but i beg to ask, why post up a video like this? and then expect not to get hated on lol.

that was slow...the civic was so much faster on the turns and im sure it isnt as well tunes as this scion....horrible driver and horrible car
anti-lag would make the car faster, but i can't help the problem with the driver.
and also this is a video of when he went AWD, likely wasnt as tuned as the civic was.
the "top fuel helmet" is so he doesnt pass out from the exhaust fumes since the the exhuast comes out of the hood.....and hes just pacing the civic if you couldnt tell he was short shifting it and/or not even on the throttle which is why you could actually hear that terrible noise coming from the car in front of him....

Pretty certain this footage is from NASA Nationals this year - both cars ran in one of the TT classes.
All I know is that Rado was having a hell of a time trying to run this car. I didn't pay too close of attention to the TT runs, but it seemed like he didn't get more than 2 or 3 hot laps in, total. Seemed like several sessions he went out, then came back in to the pits on the same lap - then didn't come out for the rest of the session. Watched him spin into the gravel trap on the 3rd to last corner on the first lap of another session.
Don't know whether it was the driver or the car, but something wasn't working right for him.
(And as far as passing the civic - I can't tell for sure, but over the lap he had to have made up at least 4-5 seconds. I'm not hip to the Time Attack world, but I'm pretty sure that, during a normal road race, 4-5 seconds/lap is a pretty significant speed difference.)
I really don't think he is going all out. Look up the time attack records Rado holds in the various cars from fwd to awd... he has surpassed his competition by a lot. That HAS sport car is quick for its class, but Rado's car holds the fastest times and records in his fwd scion (unlimited class). He is trying to go after the AWD class, sierra-sierra is a very hard contender tho...

I'm a bit concerned that majority of you bone heads didn't actually read the title of this video, rather than the article's title. He wasn't having problems keeping up, he was testing the car out. Nothing about this lap says "I'm going for a high speed run", it says "I'm working all the bugs out". The Civic, on the other hand sounds like it's running a hot lap.
The driver braked way way way too early also his lines and throttling was trash... The Scion should get a better driver!

I see lots of negative comments and I understand you guys see the car specs and know our past track record and say what the hell is this, are these guys stupid, do we need to teach Chris how to drive,etc? Well truth is this is one of the first complete laps in the car ever actually probably the 5th or 6th lap ever on this machine period and with many gremlins still, but we're working on fixing them. This also happens to be my first lap at Miller ever so I was just taking a cruise behind Tage who is a good friend and great driver while watching his line and learning the track a bit. Of course we weren't running 1000hp maybe 650 max on the straight since it definitely doesn't make sense to go out with a new unproven untested car and crank the boost to 60psi ( as much as I'd love to ) it's just not the wise thing to do. I'm not saying I'm wise either but I'm definitely not and idiot that will take a new car and throw it in the trashcan........ would you? I only made a total of 4 complete laps all weekend which was very disappointing on many levels but it's also part of building and developing new cars and technology. In fact even with how crappy the car was working and me being new to everything ( car and track) we still managed to run about 2:00 flat just shaking her down so it wasn't a total loss. Considering only 3 vehicles put in a quicker time for the weekend and all of those cars were full tube chassis cars like a Radical, a Norma, and some other stuff I didn't recognize with less than a 4 second advantage makes me extremely optimistic about the future. Some of our fans and supporters were requesting incar footage and unfortunately this is some of the only video we had since we made so few laps thus far. For all of our supporters I'd like to thank all of you and I hope to see you guys at the races......... Just remember "Go Fast or Go Home" that's how we like to roll.
