Readers Rides>>libero Gt In Nz

Hamish from New Zealand sent us this photo of his Mitsubishi Libero GT.

To be honest, I wasn't too familiar with the Libero, but as you can see Hamish has essentially turned his into the early Evo Wagon that Mitsubishi never built.

Awesome car and awesome backdrop. Thanks for the photo Hamish!

Awesome. I give you a +1 internets.

2

Never heard of one here in the states, but that looks sick!

3

It's what the early 90's Mitzi Lancer Wagon was called in Japan, then imported to NZ. We have loads of them that's a nice one though.

4

There are tonnes of these things floating round here in NZ. Most with G-zero's and mirror tints though.... :(

5

Fo those not in the know, GT Libero is essentially a GSR wagon running 1.8lT 4G93T and 4WD. Some of these models actually came with the Evo 1 front bumper and intercooler as standard but the majority have the standard Lancer front bumber and tiny little sidemounted 'cooler.

6

VERY nice. Who would have thought these wagons could turn out so nice.

What engine does it have?

7

hell yah. too bad mitsu never brought the lancer wagon here of the previous years...i would be rolling around in an evo2/3 kitted wagon like that or a evo4/5 wagon. those things stock had a 1.8 DOHC Turbo and AWD. Very easy to convert them into evo's. everything Mitsu USA brings here in the states has been ass backwards.

8

Thats the second mitsubishi wagon I've seen converted to an Evo wagon...Nice

9

Appreciate this hunt.

10

Was that shot around Queenstown?

11

Its more of a GSR....the little brother of an early model evo. They come out with the 4G62 engine(i think) 1.8 turbo. Sedans too.

12

mitsubishi libero GT originally come with turbo engine with 4wd full time

but the engine just come with 1.8cc turbo which is 4G93T.

dont feel shock if i say in malaysia they have tune 4G93T and able to beat 4G63T from evo engine

13

Man, is that Queenstown? Reminds me of it. Phat car bro, tu meke.

14

Wow thats so wicked cool, wish we got those here in the US so we could EVO-ize them! It totally sucks that we dont get badass wagons like this little guy. Nice work on that car and great pic!

15

We actually get loads of these down here, but only a few look this good.

16

woah! this is so close to my house. crazy!

17

Yeah hamish!!!

18

They were available with the same 1.8L turbo engine as the Lancer GSR and 4wd, but with a solid rear axle rather than the independent rear end of gsr's/evo's.

19

damn, if only i can get one of those here in the states.

20

Christchurch's best phang road hands down.

21

More Pics please

22

Nothing but love for this !!

23

I'm pretty sure that's Lyttleton Harbour in the background, not Queenstown.

24
