Random Snap>> Audi On The Ring Redux

Remember this random snap? I just came across this picture that shows the front of the car. A lot of custom work has gone into this car and I would love to know more about it.

Could anybody point us in the right direction?

Man, the front of that car hardly looks real in this shot (something about the headlights just makes it look shopped to me, even though it probably isn't).

Can't help you with what the custom work was though, sorry.

2

PHOTOSHOP!!!!

3

not photoshop, but looks to be solid front (think dragcar) with the grill and headlights painted/stickers although there is the projector beams (judging by size) and running lights, definetly a track car, not road legal by any stretch of the imagination

5

Well, all I could do is going to the police and asking them for the owner´s adress or so.

6

Desktop plz??

7

Please let there be a build thread around somewhere!

8

I'd love a desktop of this pic. This quattro is awesome

10

Lookl like a German Licence Plate from a area called "Miltenberg"

11

If it's real that would be awesome, but I'm leaning towards photoshopped too :(

12

I think the headlights are alloy sheet with only a cut out fr the spot light. common in drag racing in oz.

13

Audi Sport Quattro, but it looks like it had alot of work into it.

14

SB, this is not Photoshop, i've seen quite a lof of photos of all different angles of this car.

15

That thing is beautiful!

16

It's an Audi Quattro, obviously....

17

I don't know how the owner got it to be road legal in Germany.

Either he paid a really serious amount of money, or the inspection was more half legal than legal.

18

It's an Audi Quattro, obviously....

19

look at the hood

20

If it is real, we really do need more on this car!

21

make it desktop

22

Def. photochopped, just look at the lines of reflection above the rear wheel, u see 3-4 lines, now look at the photo Blackerninja uploaded, same reflections, reflections on paint always easiest way to spot a chop, take it from me im a pro at choppn

23

I really dont know if I like this or not, But it definately looks interesting wouldnt mind seeing more about it.

24

Probably a solid FRP or Carbon front with stickers to resemble the actual car. But that means it is a mid engine conversion.

25

3 seconds i can't understand what Audi is used for this car =)))))))) Cool =))))))

26

@Oskar: No your not. And you have never seen a guardrail before have you? They have them all around Nordschleife, and thats why the same reflections are there, Sherlock!

Nothing about these images looks like photoshop work.

Here is some quick google'ing result btw....

Dear 'Mr Choppn Pro',

Those 3-4 lines are called Armco.

Lots of love,

I can tell you who the owner of this car is: german racing driver Willi Herold, he used to race a even more radical Audi Quattro S2 in the STT (Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy).

Not a Photoshop. The wide body kit is a combination of Sport Quattro Pikes Peak and the Audi Quattro racing team USA. The bonnet looks a bit like a "country style tuning" but I hope the vents and this bulge in front of it are in purpose so I can understand it. Maybe the best way would be to ask Audi sport department about it.

30

Ugh..... So good it hurts. That's my new favorite car.

31

It's not a fake, the car is owned and driven by german racing driver Willi Herold, who also runs a Quattro S2 Turbo in the STT (Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy).

Is a AUDI DTM race car, adapted for driving on the street, so have those headlights.

In Germany the law is not severe enough for this vehicles, for example no German motorways the speed limit.

Also special editions have been sold DTM car to run on the street, like a OPEL ASTRA DTM:

37

insaaaaaaane!

38

As others have said it's not a 'chop, it appears to be running a custom kit based on an S1 Quattro hybrid with the 90 IMSA racers. I don't think it's a DTM car though, the Quattro never competed in DTM, Audi's first DTM racer was the V8 Quattro which was a 4-door saloon that predated the A8.

From what I know this car is a "slightly" modified Urquattro, owned by Willi Herlod, who raced something similar in the STT (Special Touring Car Trophy) (http://www.auto-rennsport-page.de/galerie/stt/stt07_02.htm Red Audi). According to someone who knows the TUEV guy who checked it, it is bloody fast, ~700hp, the struts have been moved etc. etc.
