News>>ft-86 Still On Track

Our buddy Adam Zillin over at 7Tune.com has been closely following development of the FT-86, and at a recent Toyota press event in Japan, Adam took the opportunity to get the latest scoop on everybody's favorite car of the future.

Contrary to reports that the project had been delayed, Adam was told that the car is still on track for a release in November 2011, with development about 50% complete.  Meanwhile we still wait for word on how much power the car will be packing when it hits dealers.

Slowly but surely, the car is shaping up. Can the fall of '11 come any sooner?

For more, head over to 7Tune.

Aaargh. On again off again... Only "halfway done", yet already track tested... This car must've been produced by the Gran Turismo franchise.

Just make sure it's still a $25k AE86-bred lightweight, and not another 3000lb. $35k bruiser that's too nice to track.

Cant get any better then this ;D

(though, would love to have a straight six with a turbo in it.)

Oh look, the 2012 Lexus SC replacement! With all performance sacrificed for high fuel efficiency and luxury! $40,000, 4,000 pound curb weight, 40 MPG, and 75 horsepower! Too bad they side tracked the car away from an economical performance car last year.

This IS my next project car.

6

There'll be a turbo version. Don't worry.

It's being built by Subaru, and those kids love their turbos.

It'll most probably cost $50k here in Australia.

i want one,i want one!!!

Vaporware...

About bloody time :)

10

Any word on whether it's gonna be a hybrid?

'Cause if it is, I'm gonna be making a trip to Toyota's headquarters ...with a flamethrower.

scion tc?

I've been stashing away money for my next car...we'll see. I'd rather roll in this than a genesis coupe anyday.

This is what the next Rx8 or Rx7 'should have' been if Mazda hadn't dropped the ball.

Cant wait for the FT86.

Let's see, it's an odd numbered month, so that means it's "On again". Wait 'til next month, then it will be "Off again".
