Event>> Tuning Powers 2010 – Pt.2

You can always expect to see a few Rauh Welt cars at the Tuning Powers show and for this year the usual 930 Stella Artois demo car was replaced by a pair I hadn't seen before. I didn't even know Nakai-san had given the RWB treatment to a zenki S14 and to say it looks amazing would be a major understatement. No matter what he works on you can always expect him to stun with his unmistakable style…

…and things are looking pretty tight in the stance department. I found the description on the spec sheet of this Silvia really funny, there were no long list of parts, just a simple comment, "Low & Wide." You certainly can't go wrong with that now can you!

And talking of low & wide this 964 Carrera 2 has been enhanced visually with some choice mods like this menacing front bumper…

…and RWB wider fenders all round. The RS rear spoiler has been stacked with another adjustable GT-like wing for that true JDM Porsche look that is either a love it or hate it detail. Wheels are of course courtesy of Work.

Among all the GT-Rs it was nice to see a RWD GT-S built for drag with a very period correct mid-90's look thanks to the white Yokohama AVS Model 6 wheels.

The stock looking interior gets a quadruplet of Defi gauges and Nismo instrument cluster.

The RB25DET has been fitted with an HKS GT3037S turbine and wilder HKS cams good for an 11.5 sec pass on the quarter mile.

The Chiba Automobile University (CATS) brought their electric powered AE86 Levin again this year.

It's so strange taking a look in the engine bay and finding a big inverter and an electric motor! It might all look very simple and lightweight up front…

…but once you looks at what she's packing inside (and in the trunk) you realize electric power comes with a few disadvantages.

The Flux Capacitor is back there in the center but I don't think all those lead-acid batteries are supplying the required 1.21 Jigawatts!

This 180SX from Crewch is built to prove that you don't need much to enjoy yourself at the strip. The stock SR20 is mated to an HKS GT2540R and develops around 300 HP at 1.2 bar of boost.

It actually used to run a fully tuned SR with a Trust T78 and able to get under the 10s, but the engine eventually let go.

Natural Engineering set up a nice stand showing its special WPC metal treatments that can be applied to any moving part in an engine or gearbox.

Their Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) treatment increases surface strength and harness perfect for parts like cams and gears.

Intercooler cores anyone?

Saclam make some real nice exhaust systems like this one for 997 Porsche and their parts line up for JDM cars is getting bigger and bigger.

You may remember the name Pro Sock Racing from a few months ago when I posted a look at probably the world's most insane BNR34 build they collaborated on with Garage Ito. This is another of their creations, a BNR32 customer car that was looking rather impressive in pretty much every department.

18-inch bronze TE37, check. Clean stock body, check. Optimum stance, check.

Monster RB? Check! This Nur N1 based engine has been stroked to 2.8L and as you can see mated to an HKS T04Z which, thanks to the 1.6 bar of boost it is run at, can help the engine develop 730 HP and a towering 600 lb/ft of torque at 5,600 rpm! It also runs a Getrag 6 speed transmission from the R34 GT-R.

And this is something that really got me excited. Those are Brembo Racing 6-pot N1 calipers, lightweight in their construction as their are made of forged aluminum-magnesium alloy and mated to 362 mm PFC 2-piece floating rotors. I tried to envision ways in which I could steal these, sneaking into the building at night, taking them and leaving my stock R34 Brembos in their place…hehe

As ever Francisque and Shige from Performance Racing Industry were at Tuning Powers promoting their show which is held from the 9th to the 11th of December in Orlando, Florida.

More hachiroku love! Built by Custom Garage Speed this "N III" is one might fast Levin, having managed to lap Tsukuba in an impressive 59 sec flat.

The engine is a 200 HP 1,625 cc 4AG running full Toda Racing internals and a mighty high 13.5:1 compression ratio.  And yes it runs carbs! And how about that blue heat coating done to the headers!

I really liked the well-integrated roll-cage and the custom instrumentation and switch panel.

This was my favorite car from the show. I spotted it from across the room and knew there was something special about it, as was suggested by its stance!

One glance under that louvered hood and all was revealed. A triple rotor NA so cleanly and neatly fitted in place of the stock 10A that used to power these cars!

Oh so perfect. I want to see this thing hit the drag strip!

Ask and you shall receive. Great to see some excitement from the picture I posted of this RNN14 Pulsar GTi-R in Part 1. It is indeed a very special car and unfortunately one that doesn't get the attention it really deserves.

I especially liked the clean lines of this Crazy Hornet built Pulsar…

…which thanks to it's 400 HP tuned SR20DET can potentially embarrass many a supercar!

That has to be the coolest exhaust set-up I've seen on one of these little AWD-rockets!

I've got more to come in Pt.3 so make sure you don't miss the final post!

I think its funny that the electro-Levin still has the factory battery in the engine bay, along with the many others! What was inside the open fuel door, electric socket for charging?
