Event>>scenes From Jersey – Pt.1

As fun as Formula Drift round three at Wall Speedway was, I have to say I'm very happy to be back in Southern California feeling the cool breeze through my window.

Now that we are home and recovering from a busy weekend on the East Coast, it's time to begin our look back at FD New Jersey.

When I first arrived at the track on Friday morning with temps already nearing 90 degrees, I spotted this wicked S15 in the paddock. I'm sure you've seen this car before on a lot of the blogs and forums out there. Beautiful.

After making my way onto the track, I started scouting shooting locations and watching the drivers take practice laps. Of all the tracks on the current FD schedule, this was the only one I hadn't yet been to. Here we see Kyle Mohan taking a nice aggressive line through the banking.

The drift Element as out again this weekend, at times looking dangerously close to rolling over – especially on the harsh transitions from the bank to the infield.

Mad Mike keeps improving, becoming more accustomed to the Formula D way of doing things. Even with his slammed stance, he was still looking good through the transitions and big dips in the middle of the course.

Vaughn Gittin Jr. prepares to drop in for a practice run on Friday afternoon, looking to defend his top spot in the championship standings.

Here's another view of Russel Walker's beastly S13 chilling in the paddock. Hopefully we'll be seeing him again in Seattle.

Because of the cramped space at Wall Speedway, the Fatlace One of One Show was limited to just a handful of cars. Still, there were some pretty fresh East Coast machines repping.

This NB Roadster looked just right…

Rat rods at a Formula Drift event? That's pretty cool. A certain Mr. Joshua Herron likes to call them "rad rods".

Dean Kearney was another one of the drivers who seemed really on point over the weekend.

The same can't be said for his fellow countryman Eric O'Sullivan. Not because of a lack of driving talent, but because his Impreza was again defeated by mechanical bugs. I can only recall seeing this car on track once or twice.

Stacks of burnt up Azenis, looking for loving new homes.

Taka Aono awaits qualifying with Wall Speedway's critter-infested forest in the background.

Jersey also marked the debut for Pat Mordaunt's new 350Z. Unfortunately, he tapped the wall during qualifying and was unable to make the Top 32.

The debut of Ryuji Miki's V8-powered Lexus SC went a little better. Cool car, but I'm going to miss the sight and sound of that R-Magic equipped FD.

Dai Yoshihara, Michael Essa and their 18 cylinders of combined power get ready for takeoff.

This certainly won't go down as one of Joon Maeng's best events. In a surprising turn of events, him and the Full Tilt RX8 failed to make Top 32 after earning zeros on both qualifying runs.

Ryan Tuerck making things look easily as he crosses the infield in his Solstice.

Finally, a shot of Michihiro Takatori, who had a great weekend in his V8-powered S15 – making it all the way to the Top 8.

More action from the Garden State on the way. Stay tuned.

it was funny to see O'Sullivan wanting to keep driving on three wheels. the car wasn't scratching but i doubt he could make the uphill out of the oval

2

Savage to see the Irish lads ripping it up and fierce bad luck for Flat Eric. All the Irish lads do well in New Jersey as it's the same style as the true home of Irish drifting, Rosegreen (Tipperary International Speedway hahahahaha)

3

are those tires like free, meaning like anybody could take them

4

did you get a picture of Eric O'Sullivan losing his wheel and trying to drive off

5

Are there more pictures with cars in front of the forest? THose would be great wallpapers.
