On April 9th and 10th the 4th annual Modified Mag Tuner shootout took place at PIR Raceway in Phoenix Arizona. The most hardcore race machines were assembled to compete in a no holds barred shootout consisting of time attack, autocross, 1/4mile and dyno challenges. We are currently working on the August Issue which will have the full coverage but in the meantime we’ll leave you with this teaser video to get an idea of what you can expect.

iI was Firebird raceway, just to be a nit-picker.

3

That cockpit fire redefined the term "roasted nuts".

4

Was that the fullrace s14 on fire? That swap hasn't seem to have caught on as well as I originally expected. I suppose it's too technical for most...

5

i see me!

6

That is so hot.

7

it's weird seeing those time attack cars on the drag strip...

8

Now that is an article I will have to pick up. Very interested to see who just might be king of the hill.

Yes, it was the Full-Race R14 that caught fire. The driver (MIke Speck) was fine and the car was saved too thanks to the quick action of NASA AZ officials.

10

I remember when the Tuner Shootout wasn't all Time Attack cars. Why not just rename this event Redline or Superlap?

11

Is this replacing the Sport Compact Car event?

EJ257 - This event has always catered to time attack cars, its not about street cars in any sense, its the fastest RACE cars out there which usually means most of them are built mainly for time attack.

We are currently working on having an ultimate street car challenge later in the year but with a twist. Stay tuned for more details.
