Event>> Spring Drift Matsuri – Pt4

I have yet more pictures from the Spring Drift Matsuri to share with you guys so sit back and check out yet another selection of shots from what is the best drift event in the world!

Next to the blue Spirant Silvia we saw in Part 1 this was the second cleanest S13 at the event. The owner even took the front bumper off to make sure not to ruin it. Man I really have a thing for S13s!!

A very colorful taxi!

We saw this ST182 Toyota Carina back at the Nagoya Exciting Car Showdown last month…

…I was very happy to see it in action at Ebisu but saddened to see that the bosozku style side exhausts had disappeared!

Ridiculous negative camber means the yellow FF Celica drift car was requiring tire changes quite often.

Now that is what I call riding low!

I waited around while the owner lifted the car up and removed one of the wheels to see just how he achieves that crazy stance. There are no expensive adjustable arms here, all I saw was a very suspect looking top arm bracket that allowed the mounting point to be shifted back by a good inch. Judging by the marks left inside the wheel arch the tires obviously rub quite a lot!

This was probably the sickest looking S14 I saw during the weekend. Notice how wide the rear fenders are. Excellent stance, offset and the all-important stretched tire look.

As the action continued at Minami during Sunday morning I decided it was time for a chance…

…and headed over to the Nishi Course where Suenaga told me he would be heading out for a few practice laps at. When I got there I immediately spotted this very rare A-spec FD3S. The lower section of the bumper seemed to have taken a bit of a hit but it didn’t take away from its pure JDM awesomeness.

I noticed a dirty white RPS13 flying by at twice the speed of most cars, and as sure enough, it was Suenaga out doing his thing. Here he is giving me a quick wave as he hits the tight hairpin at the Nishi course.

Back in the pits Allen from Tomei was showing Chris Forsberg just how insanely cool Goto-san’s new matte-green AE86 is. Before they had time to take a quick peak through the lexan windows…

…Goto-san was out doing crazy tandem runs with Suenaga. These two guys were throwing their cars sideways down the straight in fourth gear before flicking the opposite way to set up the car for the upcoming first corner.

When Suenaga came in he quickly opened the hood of his 180SX. Apart from a few simple mods like headers and an S14 stock turbine the engine is stock. It’s obviously all about the guy behind the wheel!

Goto-san and Suenaga-san taking some time out for a quick chat and a well-deserved smoke.

After leaving the action packed Nishi course…

…it was back to Minami for yet another BBQ and to check Andy and Beau beat the crap out of Beau’s front hub-suspension assembly. After a rather harsh encounter with the wall on Saturday his R32 Gts-t wasn’t looking too good. Beau spent the rest of the weekend fixing the bent front suspension arms and by the end of the Matsuri managed to fit everything back in place, allowing him to move the car onto a transporter.

Kita was surprisingly quiet during this Matsuri but there was always something hot to check out in the paddock…

…cars like this interesting Altezza…

…which was sporting a very catchy flake paint job.

I quite liked this anime character sticker on the fuel cap!

Some of you may remember this super wide RB26-powered C33 from the Summer Matsuri last year. I was happy to see this again as it’s without any doubt the coolest looking Laurel ever.

Am I the only one that thinks the rear end of this Toyota Sprinter resembles that of an 80’s Maserati Biturbo?

Make sure you don’t miss the final post from the Spring Drift Matsuri!

great rides for sure! and yes the rear of the toyota Sprinter resembles that of an 80's Maserati

2

That little character seems to be Suzumiya Haruhi.

3

pic #1: what an angle!

and also it's great to see the faces, chats emotions behind the cars ( goto with suen')

4

That yellow FD looks like it came straight from the '90s... Awesome post, keep it up Dino!

5

another post from the matsuri = more WIN

6

the is300 looks sick

7

I love how you say "second cleanest S13 at the event" and it still has rear 1/4 damage lol :D.

8

Please tell me you got some pics of that S15 in the last picture :O

looks uber cleeaan

9

Are those Hayashi Streets on that yellow Lotus??!!

10

that c33 looks boss!

matsuri! damn i sooooooo wanna live in japan.....one can only dream....pffft.

11

LOL at Jangles

12

The front of the yellow RX7 reminds me of a Toyota 2000GT with the quad headlights. The bumperless Altezza is cool too. There's a slammed VW Golf kicking around my neck of the woods with that same paintjob.

13

Most interesting Laurel ever?? Check this link out http://www.importconcern.ca/stock/100139/

14

Wow, I thought A-Specs were myths lol jk

15

looks like a t18 not a sprinter

16

having rolled beside an 80s biturbo a couple years ago (definitely a rarity here in Ontario) i certainly agree that the Sprinter looks quite a lot like it! especially the mesh rims, even the tail-light colouring is the same!

17

Hey Dino, have any more pics of the RB26 Laurel?

18

The rear of the sprinter in the last pic actually looks a lot like a Daihatsu Charmant, but i could be wrong

19

love that matt Green AE86.. the Celica is just crazy with that neg. camber out back.. must cost him a small fortune in tyres alone.. no your not alone - the Toyota Sprinter does have a similar shape and look of those old 'Maser' Bi-turbo's

20

we want the Goto-san feature!

21

The White S14 looks sick as!

22
