Gallery>> Daikoku Pa March 5th

Once again I was down at the Daikoku Parking Area last night for the final meeting of this week, celebrating what is without a doubt the most legendary car to come out of Japan, the Skyline. Even though the all-new R35 GT-R bears no Skyline badges whatsoever, to enthusiasts the link is still very much there. Being a Friday night the PA resembled a meeting out of a Fast and Furious movie rather than the quite gatherings we have seen this past week. I arrived around 10 pm and the place was buzzing!!

Initially, when Nissan started selling the R35, it stated it would be impossible to touch, forcing owners to stick to a strict servicing schedules that would continuously check cars for modifications and alterations that would instantly void the warranty. Obviously owners in Japan couldn't care less as almost all of the R35s last night were in some way modified!

Check out the GT1-type front fenders on the matte black one! Easily the most extreme R35 I've seen so far.

This is what the parking looked like last night. The GT-R guys, not wanting to mix it up too much with the audiophiles and bike-riding bosozokus, took over the top section of the PA.

Two different generations.

It was quite a sight seeing so many new-gen R's line up together.

The owner of this car, on top of the Gram Lights R57GT wheels had fitted specV-like air intakes on the front spoiler to help direct air to the brakes.

At one point the bosozoku started making so much noise revving their bikes to the limiters that a lot of R35 owners decided it was time to leave. Commotion like this usually gets the Police out pretty quick, which automatically means the end of the night as the PA gets closed. Fortunately they calmed down a bit shortly after, allowing everyone else to enjoy the rest of the party!

Here is that matte-black one again, check out the center exit exhaust and the massive GT wing. I think those are Wald rear overfenders while the wheels are again Gram Lights R57GT, probably one of the most popular aftermarket wheel for the new R.

This made me chuckle. This is what thirty years of progress looks like! I couldn't believe how tiny an S30 looks next to the massive R35!

The R35s were joined by older models, a great end to this Skyline week I thought.

Seeing this Bayside Blue BNR34 made me wish I had taken mine down too!

GT wide-body look on an R32? Never seen anything like this before…

…and the treatment continued all the way to the back. Not too sure on those lights…

What would a celebration of all things Skyline be with some older metal! Race replica GC10…

…and an authentic KPGC10 2000 GT-R. Nice.

Kenmary goodness!

I thought this itasha-ed ER34 was cool with the Hakosuka-like oil cooler lines coming out of the front grille!

A window into another world hahaha…

All the JDM machinery was joined by a couple of exotics like this F430 sitting all alone in a corner…

…along with this smooth CL63 AMG.

I had to take a closer look at the stereo-junkies all blaring out their own style of music from the back of their cars. The systems went from…

…somewhat compact…

…to midsized…

…with the whole of the back section of this Odyssey being decked out in Kicker speakers and silver carbon trim…

…to simply outrageous. The air these two shifted was astonishing, my ribcage was resonating to the pulses of the ridiculously loud bass!

Bosozoku bikes were parked everywhere. The taller the seat-back the cooler you are!

There was so much variety it was almost like a car show rather than a meeting!

Stretched Cadillac!

This Crown Majesta really grabbed my attention, the deep metallic maroon color making it look stunning under the lights of the PA.

View from the front.

Haven't seen many new VIpers in Japan so had to get a shot of this one, especially with that JDM background!!

This nice, smooth JZX100 belongs to Adam, a Canadian that lives out here in Tokyo. His car sports some pretty cool mods like the extended trunk lip spoiler and widened front and rear fenders. All work has been custom done in metal and integrated into the body work.

This concludes my contributions for the Skyline week. I hope you've enjoyed all this Daikoku PA coverage!

It's funny... I've got some pictures of the matte black R35 when it was being worked on at a shop near Yokota AB.

The front bumper was torn off, and the fenders and wing wasn't there yet. That car was the first Japanese Spec R35 I had seen in person and overall first one I've seen altogether.

The car was amazing in person.

9

It's impressive how every car photographed in daikoku pa seems so beautiful... maybe it's the background ( probably the photographer hehe) ... I love so much japan!!

Man it almost seems like daikoku is dieing down a little bit.

17

That Viper looks right at home.

18

Pretty crazy turn out.as far as GT-R's,the R32 is still my favorite.

Though I suddenly took a liking to 4Dr Skylines....weird,especially the R32.That Itasha'd out R34 was pretty cool...needed a drop though but still sick.

So Dino, what's going on with your GT-R?????

19

@marko

I was sadly disappointed when I visited Tokyo back in 2007 to see more H2 Hummers with massive chrome wheels than I did Skyline GTRs. I felt lucky just to see a moderately modded R32 in Harajuku, but then bummed when the car behind it was a Lincoln Navigator sitting on dubs.

29

The first "stereo-junkie" car, it's a peugeot 207 right? i wasn't expecting that! I love how that crown majesta looks too. Real nice paint colour and of course some amazing GT-R's!!

30

a nicew mixture of goodies here, i love the older cars but some of the newer ones are some eye-openers too - great coverage and photo's

31

the BNR34 still stands up to its gloriness....

32

more pics from the white benz pleas

33

Seems like it was a pretty crazy meet at Daikoku!

I gotta ask though, what do you usually drive apart from your GT-R Dino?

34

@Naga_Ten

I'm pretty sure Dino has mentioned in a few of his posts that his daily driver is a Subaru Legacy with the EZ30 flat 6

35

very very nice dino!

36

Thanks Dino!!!

37

Im so going to be a hill billy and camp a tent in that car park for my next japan visit. lol.

38

I would kill to go there! I'm almost serious! :P

Please tell me you're making some wallpapers out of these pictures.

39

Haha love that random Viper. Great pictures, what an amazing meet.

40

Matt Black GTR is tuned by MCR. It's over 600+hp. Sounds crazy!

41

I like how everyone else noticed the H2, the Genesis, the 207, the Viper and the 'Stang but, did anyone else notice the random Blazer in TWO of the pics? (4th and 19th) There's also a red new-gen Charger in the 4th pic and a 300c with a wing in the 30th pic and the pic with the Viper. Aside from the infestation of non-jdm goodness, awesome pics Dino!

42

I love how everyone else noticed the H2, Caddy, Genesis, Viper, 207 and 'Stang but, did anyone else notice the random Blazer that appears in TWO of the pics? (4th and 19th to be precise) There is also a red new-gen Charger in the 4th pic and a be-spoilered 300c that appears in the 30th pic and the pic with the Viper. Aside from the infestation of non-jdm goodness I must say, awesome pics Dino.

43

I was priveleged enough to be at this meet with new friends and their stunning R33 and R33 Vspec's, such a coool world to be a part of and get to see first hand. You're lucky to have such immediate access to that variety of stuff Dino!

44

picture 8 of the white R35 would make an amazing desktop. great pics Dino!

Love the window shot!
