There's a never a bad time for some Miata content. This car is owned reader Ryan Cote of Florida, and is sporting a Flyin' Miata turbo kit along with supporting exhaust upgrades and some mild suspension work.
Although he loves the car, Ryan says that the turbo four probably won't be around for much longer as an LS1 swap is in the cards…
It seems like the V8 Miata is getting more and more popular – the Shelby Cobra of the 21st century.

i'm all for a turbo mx5, but i can think a few others more deserving... and for the love of all that is 50/50 weight distribution, don't kill my favorite car by putting an anvil under the hood.
I think its cool to see these projects that have budgets and dedicated owners, but i think their getting prepared for skyline R-31,2,3,4,5 in march =D

As far as weight distribution goes, I wouldn't doubt that an LS1 swap would be the same ballpark as a turbo miata. I read they weighed a n/a miata and the distribution was 51/49 no turbo. With the LS1 swap they gained a total of 200 pounds over the n/a car with 62 lbs being over the rear wheels bringing it to 52/48. Plus with that kind of power only at ~2500lbs, that's nuts!

I could go for the hard top.... Haha. I'm going Flyin' Miata turbo with mine, want to get to 300 HP and that's that. She'll be my little track monster after that. It's just up to me to get my driving skills up to par. (Mine's already light-years ahead of me on the track, ha.)

Im sure its a cool car, owner should have submitted a better picture though to show it off better, i dont think that picture does it justice.
I think more shots and details would be nice, maybe it's not really a "lame cars everyone has" under the skin....honestly, I would much prefer to see this type of machines than ones that are just a collection of expensive parts that mostly sit in the garage.

Every Reader's Ride feature has been well done IMHO. It shows the personality of the owner, and the care they took to make the car their s alone. "lame cars everyone owns"? Good job, there. Reader's rides are just that. Cars owned by the readers. Real world. Real cars. Period.

Yeah the LS1 won't hurt the weight distribution much at all. Gotta love that aluminum block, and you really can't beat NA response compared to turbo lag.
OK, whatever. Where's the I Heart Honda coverage? I'm so tired of these posts. I bet the I Heart Honda event coverage will be conserved to run for a week as u guys try to maximize the best articles. I used to be a fan of Speedhunters even though guys were flaming u up for being too corporate. I miss those days when nonstop JDM coverage was still here. There was Dino, Mike, and Antonio. Gone are the days. Even Alex has disappeared cause he might have figured that there would be nothing to preach his douchebag-ness on.

Props on the plan for a LS1 swap, thats the way to do it man, you wont be disappointed, there have been major improvements and understanding made in the LS1 Miata swap movement over the last few years. I'm surprised there arent 10x more of them around in every city. cool car, great pics too.
Rad. I'm feelin this. I'm not a big fan of V8 swaps though, really changes the charecter of the car and the driving style... But all that power in that chassis would be fun! No longer a "sleeper" tho with the LS1 sound!
