Our buddy Luke over in Japan has been hard at working putting together new a film documenting the drift experience, and he’s just released a lengthy trailer for the project.

Naturally, the film features a lot of the Japanese drift cars and tracks that we love so much with an emphasis on the grassroots side of things.

It also reminds me how much I miss going to drift events in the motherland!

Watch the trailer, then check out more at http://www.wearedrift.com/.

I'm glad someone got to use that song. It's dope. --good job, so far, man.

3

This seems like a really cool DVD. I love the idea

4

Thats sow aweome. Drifting is a gift from god i love it!

5

I'm a bit tired of all the spiritual drift video's coming out one after the other. A bit of slow-mo here and there is interesting and mixing in some atmosphere shots is alright too, but most videos now spend more time videoing clouds and people than they do the cars. I say bring back the exciting/amusing auto-documentaries like the good old High Octane DVD's, enough of the editor's play things. Drifting is about relaxing and having fun, not contemplating the meaning of life or turning it into a religion.

6

I agree with Sam - nice looking, but very boring trailer. Most of it was just over processed slow motion people, lets look back to the greats like the Slide America and Touge Heroes sorts of stuff - that was dope.

I probably will end up buying this DVD anyway as the cause is good, but it just doesn't get my heart racing.

7

I think it's a very worthy film, the guy making it loves what he's doing, and he's doing it for the right reasons and I can dig that. :)

Isn't this the dude who was slating Chong and SH and the dudes that run it in his little "secret site" not too long ago?

I remember like reading this like ages ago and then when I see this video up here, Im thinking, nah, theres no way SH is gonna publish this dudes work when he talks smack like this...

"Casey i would not be running around for speedhunters all this much, i mean dont sell yourself short.

You do some damn good photo work mate, you need to have a look around on the internet and find some other car blogs with a large following who would be happy with all your work, dont just let SP.com control what you shoot, shoot everything you can and find blogs to suit what your shooting.

There are so many other blogs out there that have a massive following and would love your work and shot you much more respect in return for your photos. You gotta remember dont sound desperate, you are doing SP.com a favour by giving them photo's, you gotta get to a point with your work where you know its good enough and you should be really looking for people to pay you or find someone that at least shows you heaps of support and can help you grow, not just use your photos whenever they feel like it.

If i was SP.com i would take anything your shot, your photos are great. "

I have to tell you that was very boring. A trailer for what exactly... cursive letters or slow motion stills? If the finished product is anything like this, who's gonna buy it? Not me sorry. I've got mouths to feed.

Ive heard a little about the dude behind this on my net travels and not all news is good news as they say. I understand hes really "up there" if you know what i mean...

10

Want action? Simple, check out my Ebisu Matsuri work!

http://www.vimeo.com/5059286

This film will have some insight into the drivers and the community along with all the normal action and crashes your use to. But drift films have been presented in the same format for too long, sometimes going againest the grain can get you some negative feedback but i understand that.

I drift because my mates and the people around me make the events so much fun, not because i done some wicked skids that day. Sure cars are fun but its the people around us that keep us in the sport and help it expand into these large social gathering that makes them more then just race days, take the people out of the sport and your left with nothing.

11

What's the 'same format'? What's different from this to the others?

12

sorry - this is nothing that gets the pulse goin, rather flatlined after watchin that...need for speed may as well be need for eye bleed..

mate, youre rep is a bit much over the net - a bit of a search tells all so maybe lose the piety?

only my two pence.

13

Looks hot luke, love the trailor excellent type of music to convey it, works really well,

Congrats on the speedhunters feature

- Casey

14

I never actually knew i had any rep, i just make videos and enjoy drifting my car.

15

i like everything you make dude, yeah its sweet seeing epileptic battle after battle, but for the purests' who live an breathe drifting this really touches base, its about the ppl you do it with and the enjoyment it brings, and remembering that its not about comps and money. ill definately be buying this.

16

awesome! keep up the hard work. cant wait to see the full doco.

17

The movie is called drift documentary and your complaining that it doesn't have enough action..... ????

It's a documentary covering 'behind the scenes' of drift, that's the purpose! It still has action but it shows things the other movies don't.

They do the same sort of thing with downhill mountain biking movies and they are always fucken awesome.

18

Finally!!! Speedhunters recognising some of you work...thank f*ck for that!

Maybe now you can get the f*ck off SecretDrift and hang out with these c*cksuckers instead.

19

Bloody unreal job. LOVE IT

20

VERY BORING

21

I may be a bit biased seeing as I'm friends with the guy putting this together, but guys like Driftnoob shouldn't be commenting on the creators character. People may think he's "up there" but I've been practically neighbors with this guy for over a year and I can tell you I don't know anyone that works as hard as this guy.

That being said, I have to admit the pace of the video was a bit slow and despite thinking it would give me the jolt I needed before work, I kinda felt a bit relaxed after watching it... not necessarily a good think haha

But anyways, the footage we got so far (even just by checking other clips/pictures on the site) is pretty intense so rest assured the finished product won't be putting anyone to sleep!

22

great music! i think i can see what JDMJared means, cause this will be a doco about behind the scenes of drift, and if THAT is your intention (which it seems to be, Vimeo: "Everything the community has asked for but has yet to see in any other film") then i think you're doing it right! ie you're doing exactly what you set out to do, which is great! whereas most other people here were probably looking for another run of the mill drift video with only sideways cars filling up the time.

and in some ways i was wanting that too, which is why i thought this was a bit of an anticlimax, i think the finished product is gonna be unreal though! keep it up luke!

23

first thing i did this morning when i got to work was check this for the trailer. i dont know what everyones problem is, this preview builds suspense, keep up the good work mate, i look forward to the official release, i'll even buy two copys! i think its a good insight into the scene as a whole, not just cars, especially for people like myself who wont be able to make it to japan any time soon.

24

I spy Alexi and his Mark II at 3:03 :)

25

YAWN where can i refund my life back? who wants to see the crowds behind the fence with no emotion whilst the only interesting thing is blurred out in the background? nothing happened for like 3 minutes. there is no suspense build up, it's just long and boring. another thing that get me is ive read about this guy b4 and his hate for speed hunters, now he is just using rod and mike as a promotional platform now that speed hunters is so big. who asked for a behind the scenes documentry? i sure as hell didn't. I dont want to see behind the scenes with Leno, I want to see Leno. Take away the people and what are you left with? Leno. We are community. We are Leno.

26

I have also read about this guy slating speedhunters before. Why is he getting airtime here when he talks smack about the people running this show? I don't get it - its like enemies getting in to bed together - something chronically twisted and completely hypocritical.

27

i feel like you played the same shot like 100 times of peoples backs of their head and a car going buy. i didnt even finish the video i got so bored.

28

nice feature luke.

29

Thanks for the comments guys, always appreicated

30

Sorry but both slide america and bad as hell got boring after the first 10 min. I would much rather watch a video like this. Keep it up Luke. Video like this takes skill instead of just throwing clips together.

31

Shit looks awesome, keep up the good work Luke.

Don't listen to the haters
