Random Snap>>calvin In The Dominican Republic

Got an email this morning from Efrain Arias of Boostiao.com in the Dominican Republic. To celebrate the opening of the first drift-only track in the Latin America, Formula D drivers Calvin Wan and Casper Canul shipped their cars out to help break in the new course. This weekend there will be a special practice event and Efrain promises to keep us updated.

Looking forward to it!

and the US still doesnt have one?

(correct me if im wrong.)

It is true we don't have one yet but it seems like a lot of our regular racing tracks are open to having drifting events held quite frequently.

3

yeah i dont think we have any strictly drift tracks.. god i wish we did tho... but like F3INT said alot of tracks are opening uup to drifitng which is really cool i live in california and just about any night of the week you can find a track that has drifitng at it...

I don't see the point of a drift-only track. A track specifically designed to host drift events, sure. But if grip racers want to use it too, and will pay for it just like the drifters, why exclude them?

good news for latinamericans!!!

6

@Jake: Its a little diferent i guess, its a Drift oriented track, the staff will give Drift fans priorities in matters like Design, Layout, Facilities, or any other decision. Thats kind of nice. I suppose the track will recieve grip fans and others with open arms.

@Jake: The drifters were using a grip track ever since 2004 (only one drifter back then, and only 1 circuit), and im guessing that schedule conflicts were always messing things up when the drifters and grip racers wanted to host events. Later on they had Drift & Grip events (with INCREDIBLE turnouts) at the circuit while the new Drift track was being prepared. The drift-only track is just a place for all drifters to practice without having to wait for the grip racers to finish, and its a second drift venue for hosting competitions.

Drifters from all over Latin America will be at this event :D

y gracias Efrain!

Good for the Dominican Republic, contributing in latinamerican motorsports. I hear their Drag Racing program is Hot!

Live From DR Casper and Calvin are the sh1t rockin on our new drift track, stay tuned for more photos of Efrain.

This is incredible. to think that DR would be the first small island to open a track. there are larger, more developed islands with no form of tarmac for pure motorsport :(

Well I of course approve of a drift-oriented track that gives priority to the drifters, I was just concerned about the exclusion. Images of the ski/snowboard wars were flashing through my head, lol.

Good news for the locals there.

But why Calvin Wan? Dudes' record sucks, he sucks.

His FD is a straight copy of the Apex'i / Imamura FD. (before the falken livery)

It's amazing that he's still on the FD circuit. But he can't do well in a NOB proven car!

FALKEN, drop this dude and bring Taka Aono back onboard!

Man, this event was insane... we turned this old airport into a SICK DRIFT track with a long straight and long winding curves for guys to really show what the cars can do... you enter the apex @ well over 120-130 MPH. AND NOT ONLY THAT the track has full spnshorship from Brahma light beer and the events kicked off with an awsome concert of CALLE 13!!!... there are gonna be more events for sure... this was awesome and people are HUNGREY to see more guys from US and Japan coming here to do their stuff!!!... about 6,000 people came!
