News>>subaru Legacy Ready To Roll In Super Gt

Right now the finishing touches are being put on the new Subaru Legacy B4 race car that will run in the GT300 class of the Super GT series. The new car is being built by R&D Sport in Kanagawa Prefecture and should be debuting at Super GT Rd.6 next month in Suzuka. The boxer-powered Legacy will be driven by Tetsuya Yamano (who drove the GT300 Impreza) and Shogo Mitsuyama.

Can't wait to see what the finished product looks like next month! Thanks to Super GT man Len Clarke for the tip.

More on Subaru's press release here.

look how squated it looks now compared to a factory B4 sedan, so frikin low!

The new legacy is big fat'n ugly (hello people at Subaru- r u insane!?) maybe a good car but it sure doesn't look it lol

3

can't wait to see this too!

4

Where is the Advan Impreza? That is my favorite car in Super GT. I cant wait to see Symetrical AWD return to the grid.

5

the new legacy looks way better in person, then the inital photo reaction. However saying that i still think it looks like a subaru'd out toyota camry. Glad they manned up and put in the 3.6L H6 from the alex tribeca. Lol 911 Carrera sedan.

What happened to the Cusco GT300 STi? It even won an event last year, and now it's gone this year? Anybody know?

7

I believe the Cusco GT300 was taken out of the race because it was a Subaru funded/backed car and they decided to pull out of the race with all the budget cuts. This B4 Legacy is not backed by Subaru supposedly. At least that was what I read....

8

Hmm ... very interesting. Happy to see Subaru dipping it toes back into a bit of Motorsport again.

Hopefully they will rejoin WRC as well.

9

i wonder when we will ever see an Evo on Super GT

10

o hellllllya, that thing is going to be a beast. Subaru FTW!

What Kevin said. IMO HKS should run the CT230R in the Super GT. Just have an air restrictor to what the HP limit is in GT300 and would probably fit in like all the other GT300 cars.

12

the car looks like an alligator don't you think?

13

Mitsubishi is the only JDM manufacturer that doesn''t have car in the Super GT.

Yeah, but not in a good way....ewwwww.

Like Joe said this car is not "factory backed" in the traditional sense. I'm sure they will have their hand in the project (like the Block Gymkhana 2 car?) but this is not Subaru's reentry into motor sports. Although, I'd imagine a Super GT car would be MUCH cheaper to campaign than a WRC program... As far as looks go, it's just the preliminary sketch. & yeah their not going to run the 3.6 in super gt in the 300 class.

16

The roofline still looks exactly like a Nissan Altima. And wasn't the previous Legacy generation called B4?

17

Just to confirm....the Cusco Impreza had factory backing and with Subaru effectively leaving motorsport....that is why the Cusco STI is gone?

Sorry for double post.

Here is something i found on wiki....(not the best of sources i know)

In 2008, Cusco's Impreza won the first GT300 race in Sepang, marked the first AWD car victory in Super GT/JGTC history. Even they were having very impressive result (with 1 win and 2 podiums) that season, the Cusco announced they are not participate in the 2009 season as they want to concentrate on off-road events.
