Random Snap>>road Trippin’ Bus

I spotted this decked out pop-top VW bus and trailer combo at a local Volkswagen gathering here in Central California last month and thought some of you guys might enjoy seeing this interesting creation. Although these old buses make a Toyota Prius look like a Ferrari when it comes to performance, I think stuff like this is certainly worthy of a mention here on Speedhunters. Do you agree when I say that it might impossible to find cars with more character than vintage VW vans?

There's got to be a reason why cars (or vans) like this one put more smiles on people's faces than high dollar custom show cars or factory correct restos…

i dig it.

There is a certain charm to old cars that squeaky clean and shiny show cars lack, and yea, I dig these more :)

4

not enough bimmers just been nothing but old vw's lately. moar drift content!

5

I can't wait for the VW month to be over.

@g-ng

you're so right!

there nothing worse then those crappy Volkswagens.

Drove enough of the watercooled ones, that's why i switched to the best cars in the world, yes japanese ones. ;-)

7

Haha, hopefully this month opened the crappy ricers eyes :)

Make sure you feature this VW Bus in NFS Shift. That would be kick @ss! :P

VW T1, T2a and T2b busses are so cool. Specially slamed with the vintage Porsche rims and the whole 'used'-look. Sadly those T1 are unaffordable last years, even in their home-country (Germany). :( One of the not many german cars with a 'soul'!

Rat style rulez!

Was this in Stockton?

Aw, no comments?  This is awesome!  I agree with you on the character comment.  VW Buses and VW Bugs are the best of old "feel good" cars.  I owned a bug and loved it to death - quite literally.  Now I want a bus!  Thank you for posting this!

Hello,

This is my bus... my Vanagon too, this image was taken at the Madera County Fairgrounds.

Thanks man!  They are the best of old "feel good" cars, aren't they? I had never really heard it put like that... but it's true.

If you, or anybody really, are seriously interested in owning a Vintage Volkswagen Bus (Bug/SingleCab/DoubleCab/Ghia/Thing/Fastback/Squareback,Fridolin) you should check out the "Classifieds" section of the Vintage Air Cooled VW website that I am a member of. (Lots of info in the forums too!).

Wow!! That's my bus!

(I wish I would have found this earlier, sorry.)

Thanks for the kind words, really... but I will have you know, I eat Priuses for breakfast. My Westy is a 'sleeper', of sorts.

I run a mild stroker (74 X 88= 1800cc's where stock was 1192cc), duel carbs, and a cam with a good lope to it... it sees upwards of 5k quite often. It is a great bus, and we really love it.

I found our 1966 Westfalia SO42 locally on the outskirts of town, where it had sat since 1982...  I drug it out of that field and breathed life back into her. We've been together for almost ten years now, and it's been a love story the whole time.

Thanks for the spotlight, Mr Garrett.

Regards,
Damian
