Carlos Sainz and Volkswagen continued their domination of the 2009 Dakar with another stage win today, taking six of the ten stages so far. Sainz came under pressure from NASCAR star, Robbie Gordon, who finished just 21 seconds behind the Spaniard. Gordon remains in 5th, but has closed up on Joan Roma in the Mitsubishi Lancer.

However, the day ended on a very sad note after Spanish rider Cristobal Guerrero crashed and is  now in a coma in Copiapo Hospital.

Amazing stage. By the way, Andy, I think you've got the overall positions mixed up. Holowczyc is in 7th, with Kuipers, Depping and Palik following respectively. http://www.dakar.com/2009/DAK/LIVE/us/1000/classement/CGA.html
