Please keep these Dakar updates coming. I look forward to 'em every day!

The guys on the bikes look impossibly smooth drifting and bouncing through the ruts.

As much as I admire Sainz, you've got to hand it to Al-Attiyah - his BMW looks much more stock than the completely scratch-built VW.

I'm disappointed.

First the "Dakar" used to be the Paris Dakar for many many years. It was the most gruelling, the toughest of the tough. People died, some got lost, and many got injured. (having a GPS WAS a must).....now they moved it to South America?......that's ghey. Not only it's shorter, but the routes are well marked and signed. What gives?

They moved it because of terrorist concerns. 2008 did not actually go because some terrorists captured a french family on vacation and killed them.

w00t go vw

.

and i'm also sad at the demise of the classic race, but if you were the race organizers and you knew there was a threat of people attacking your competitors, what would you do?
