New Cars>> Aston Martin Aim For Le Mans Win

Hot off the press! On the 50th Anniversary of its outright win at Le Mans, Aston Martin will aim to repeat this win at La Sarthe in June.

Following their semi-works support of the 'Charouz Racing' Lola Aston Martin in 2008, the British team have released an artist impression of the new Lola based racecar in Gulf Oil livery with new bodywork. It is powered by a production based Aston Martin V12 which helped Aston score its second Le Mans GT1 title last year with the DBR9. Aston Martin Racing (aka Prodrive) is working with Lola on the development of the car.

The team will also race in the Le Mans Series. Darren Turner returns as a full time Aston driver. 2008 Charouz drivers, Jan Charouz, Darren Turner, Stefan Mucke and that popular driver called TBA (he gets everywhere this time of year) will also drive. Harold Primat will also join the team, so one assumes it will be a two car team.

Unfortunately, this means Aston Martin will not be running a works DBR9.

Well I'd say that's the most badass thing I have seen for awhile, I love how their choices on body work and aeros are totally different from the other machines running in the series, and don't get me started on the Gulf livery that is just the cherry on top!

in constint rivalry with each other.

I agree with Andy, I don't think it looks anything like the Peugeot, unless you mean simply cause it's a closed top LMP1 coupe. Anyways, I'm glad they announced this finally, my friend works at Prodrive as a composites laminator and told me about this ages ago. Nice to see it in the Gulf colors!

I hope they run this car at Mosport Canada...Awesome machine.

Look like a copy of last year winning Peugeot ...

Serge -the Peugeot that didn't win Le Mans or the LMS?

.

TBH it doesnt really look much like a Peugeot. It just looks like a Lola (which is what it is) with a softer nose and a different air box design.

.

Dion - This is for the LMS and Le Mans. David Richards has hinted that it could run in the ALMS at Petit...but we will see.
