Random Snap>>hondas On My Mind

I just stumbled across this pic on Flicker of a clean Taiwanese Honda Civic EF and it's got me thinking about Hondas… I'm a former Honda guy myself, having owned both a new EG Civic Si and a tuned up 2nd Gen CRX back in the day. Times have progressed to the stage where I'm starting to see less of these cars on the road and am wondering if this would be a good moment to scoop up a clean chassis for safe keeping. Think about it this way: there was a time 20 years ago when you could pick up a late '60s muscle car for dirt cheap, no one valued them. Older Hondas are also reaching this phase too now. They are perhaps not that fashionable, but will we all think differently in twenty years time?

Just a thought…

(and yes there will be a Honda month in 2009)

I just imported an EG6 from Japan and its totally mint and I'm loving every moment of owning a Honda with it being my first. I say go for it because you certainly don't see many tuned Civics anymore.

I seriously doubt we'll be seeing '89 Civics going for 7 digit prices at Barret Jackson anytime soon, or ever for that matter.

I Think We All Have A Soft Spot For Hondas, I Know I Do. Thats Coming From A Guy Who Owns And Loves His 89 240sx Hatch.

Being a Civic owner my self I kant wait 4 Honda Month!

Ya... 20 years... but imagine 40 years from now... Fixed up Civics n Integras will be like hot rods today?... And will we be the old guys taking are 50 year old civcs to shows?

7

I've considered the same thing, Rod.

I agree with you Rod. Especially the EF chassis civics and CRX's. Give the EG and EK another 5-10 years I think. The Civic is like the 62-76 Chevy Chevelle/Nova/Malibu. There were tons made, different body styles through the years, huge aftermarket, etc. ;) The Si versions will be like SS versions. I think the 99-00 Si will be a good catch too. It's hard to find a clean B series swapped car with a/c and ps. The 99-00's came stock with the B16. Then the Integras, especially the DA chassis. The RSX Type S's will be a good catch too. Especially when gas goes back up and stays up, these economical lightweight go karts will be valued.

Got plans for buying an CRX EE8 VTEC the upcoming spring ;)

Really any old car you put away will be worth something to someone in 20 years time. Think of any 40+ year old car that is restored or just in nice shape, its going to turn heads and be worth a pretty penny.

front wheel drive lol

My first three cars were an EF Civic then an EG Civic followed by a BB4 Prelude... as someone that has been to a few classic shows this year all cars turn heads 50-70 years down the line. =)
