Gallery>>photos Of The Year Part Four

As I was hunting through the archives of the site picking out some of my favorite photos from the year, it really hit me just how much we have covered here on Speedhunters since launch. I'm sure a lot of you will agree with me when I say that the variety is one of the greatest parts about this site. Where else can you see high quality international coverage of sports car racing, grassroots and pro drifting, rods and customs, time attack  and everything else?

Sure we all have our personal favorite types cars and styles, but seeing Antonio the drift maniac shooting FIA GT in Europe and hot rods in SoCal or world class snapper John Brooks shooting drifting on the docks of Long Beach is so cool. I don't even need to mention how fired up watching Rod's films get me…

Anyways, I'm going to start off with some of my favorite shots from my fellow Speedhunters in this post.  Up above we have John Brooks' fantastic shot of vintage racers at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Goodwood, UK. There's not too many things as universally appealing as classic Ferraris, especially when they are being opened up on the race track.

MSC Challenge at Honjo Circuit, Saitama-ken Japan - I shot this event alongside Antonio and Rod, and I think Antonio did a great job of capturing the feel of MSC with this shot. The hot, rainy Japanese summer, and some of the best grassroots drifting in the world. I won't forget it…

So-Cal Speed Shop, Pomona, CA – Another great shot by Antonio that captures the inner workings of the legendary So-Cal Speed Shop.  Three hot rods in various stages of completion. It's mechanical artwork.

Buttonwillow Raceway, Buttonwillow,CA – As far as the coolness meter goes, you can't go wrong with the combo of a Porsche and oversteer, as snapped here by John Brooks during the 2008 Super Lap Battle at the unscenic, but lovable Buttonwillow Raceway.

HTM Willowsprings International Raceway, CA - Tommy and Matt from San Diego showing that grassroots drifting is alive and well in the USA. Anyone who doubts this just needs to take a trip to one of the Ziptied ASB events like the one where Antonio took this photo.

Le Mans, 1994 – One of the things that I really enjoy about Speedhunters are the shots from John's priceless and vast archive of racing photos. For example, this view of a Honda NSX at the 1994 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Long Beach, CA - I have been really impressed with Rod's still shots considering he just started shooting this summer. I love this fast shutter speed shot of Remmo Niezen's BMW and Tanner Foust's Z battling at the Red Bull Drifting World Championship last month. The setting alone made this event one of the most interesting of the year.

Ebisu Circuit, Fukushima-ken Japan – Another great capture of Japanese drift life from Antonio at the Ebisu Natsumatsuri this year.Fix it and get back out on the track ASAP!

Irwindale Speedway, Irwindale, CA - I really like this shot Antonio took at the Mooneyes event last weekend in Irwindale. Not everyone is fan of some old fashinoned drag racing, but to me there will also be something great about vintage muscle cars roaring down the quarter mile. American as apple pie…

Long Beach ,CA - Another cool shot from Antonio, this one at Formula D Long Beach. I think the downtown Long Beach skyline makes a such a great backdrop for drifting and I can't wait to go to next year's Long Beach event for myself.

I'll continue with some of my own pics next time.
