Event>>sema 2008 Notes Part3

Today for me was all about getting ready for the Formula Drift press conference and the big announcement of our own "mega event": Need for Speed LIVE.  It will see us bringing together an international roster of the world's top drifters, race, production, and time attack cars to do battle in the UK next June. The project has already been one year in the making, I'm quite excited that we've now able to reveal a little bit about it!

So if you were to choose what Time Attack cars and Drifters to bring to Need for Speed LIVE which would they be?

BTW the Formula Drift crew was sporting these new uniforms today, as they get ready for the Red Bull event in 1.5 week's time. Exciting times for them!

This is Jim from Formula Drift taking us through the details of the 2009 season. A key new element for next year, will be the inclusion of local amateur drifting competitions at some of their championship rounds. This is a needed layer for FD events IMO, so it's great to see grass roots drifters will have support next year.

The US Drift community all assembled in one spot…. recognize any one?

The man behind the Mopar drift team: Sean from NuFormz Racing.

… and the Crazy Swede… Samuel Hubinette.

I didn't have much of an opportunity to Speedhunt today… just grabbed a few snaps between meetings….

This Pro Street style Rolls is quite the oddity…

Very clean Pro Street Nova…. these cars are all sitting outside in front of the Convention center BTW…. I'll do a full pass tomorrow of them as there are some pretty wild machines on display.

….on the topic of clean… a tasteful Lexus IS…

Got dish?….

Ok time to get some sleep…. More tomorrow..

Formula D Street Legal? That would be pretty cool!

I actually dig the design of the Scion TC, and having ridden in one I can tell you it is very high quality considering its price. Only wish it was FR though. Looks good in that yellow.

3

If it becomes like the D1SL which now have 1000hp aristo's and other massively tuned car it will be a waste. If it stays in the original idea that D1SL bring so its cool.

pro-street rolla is a travesty!

6

Pro Street Rolls......thats...thats...words cant describe that level of awsomeness!

7

the guy who own this roll must be shot,a rolls is not designed to go fast and it should never be tuned to go fast. This is just stupid.

8

Crack ups bro. As a total cultural mashup, that Rolls would be perfect for drag racing at Motegi.

9

It's exciting and relieving to know that Formula d is going to include more amateur events. FD is now beginning to show again, that it's truly about drifting.

11

@ snoro. In case you didn't know, Rolls Royce makes airplane-jet engines. Now, you tell me those engines are not fast?

12

that Roll's was DOPE.

If you saw it in person, you'd change your attitude.

I took 2 pics all week. One front-ish angle, and a rear shot of that Rolls.

13

i know that roll royce make jet engine but their car have never been designed to go fast ,well it was never their primary goal and if they go fast well it takes alot of time to get to the fast speed.Just look at the corniche, silver shadow, phantom, silver cloud. those car even if they have big engine, they weight alot and are focused on confort and not performance,if you want performance go see the merc ,bmw and leave the roll and bentley to person who want a real confortable ride and that dont mind about performance.

Dude... I can see my eyes and forehead in the background!... IM FAMOUS!
