News>> Petit Le Mans- Peugeot Pips Audi For Pole

Wow, that was a great qualifying session! Just like a sprint race.

Allan McNish put in some really quick times early in the Qualifying session earlier this afternoon and with five minutes to go the Audi Engineer told Allan he could come in to the pits, his pole position was safe…

However,,,,as Allan was exiting his car, Stephane Sarrazin took pole, by just 0.08 of second. An amazing performance by both teams. Given that everyone thought Peugeot would dominate qualifying, it was an impressive performance by McNish. The second Audi, driven by Marco Werner starts 3rd. Penske locked down the top three positions in the P2 class, Ryan Briscoe leading the three yellow Porsche's. The Andretti Green Acura of Franck Montagny was 4th.

Onto the GT's. Johnny O'Connell beat his team mate, Olivier Beretta in the "Corvette" (GT1) class. in GT2, Jamie Melo in the Risi Competition Ferrari F430 took class pole from Dirk Werner in the Farnbacher Porsche 911. The Ford GT fans will be pleased both cars qualified respectively in 10th and 11th in GT2 class.

Its shaping up to be a fantastic race on Saturday. All four classes broke track records. Live coverage of the race on Radio Le Mans and on Speed TV (North America) and Motors TV (Europe). Race starts at 11.15AM EST and runs for 10 hours or 1000 miles maximum

yeah was great while it lasted. Back to Speed now, but they are about 75 laps behind the live action, so had to kill Radio Le Mans for a while.

Coverage has been great, despite all the technical difficulties that Hindy and co have endured with timing etc

Go McNish! fantastic performance after warm up mistake

I'm soooo bummed I couldn't go this year. Last year was a blast even though it rained. The Audi team is a blast to party with and they keep KitKat's in the fridge, pretty much the best thing in the world hahaha. Nice job Andy, Hope to team up with you some more down the road.
