News>> Honda Win In Wtcc

James Thompson claimed Honda's first ever victory in the World Touring Car Championship last weekend at Imola, Italy. The ex-BTCC champion triumphed on the third race of the weekend, narrowly beating fellow Brit, Rob Huff (Chevrolet) and Jorg Muller (BMW). This followed an impressive 3rd place in race one.

The Accord race car is built by JAS Engineering, the same company that builds Honda's Civic Rally car, which we featured last month. The team itself is run by N-Technology, who achieved much success running Alfa Romeo's in World Touring Cars. Honda give minimal assistance. New for this weekend was engine preparation by Mugen Honda. An excellent achievement by 'Tommo' and the small team.

The JAS Accord has also won in the Italian, Danish and Swedish national championships this year.

As the WTCC season draws to an end. SEAT drivers Yvan Muller, Gabriele Tarquini and Rickard Rydell hold the first 3 places in the championship, with Rob Huff in 4th. Current champion, BMW Driver, Andy Priaulx ls in 5th position.
