Editorial>>speedhunting In Japan

What is my name again?…. What country am I in?….Do you speak English?… or should I say Parlez vous anglais? I'm getting a bit disoriented here as the past 10 days or so have been an absolute whirlwind of activity… It went something like so:

Last Friday Antonio and I flew into Frankfurt.

Saturday we rented a car and drove to the Nurburgring to check out DTM qualifying.

Sunday we flew to meet John Brooks in Munich and photographed the new BMW Welt and Museum. We then blasted up the autobahn to Leipzig in the former East Germany.
Monday and Tuesday we spent as guests at the Porsche Leipzig faciltiy shooting cars and interviewing their people.

Wednesday was spent driving across Germany back to the Nurburgring where we investigated the culture around Nordschleife track days.

Thursday we drove to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and shot the new Carrera4 on the old Spa circuit. That night we shot photos and video of the FIA GT practice sessions.

Friday was spent shooting more FIA GT action, the Spa motorsports museum (Antonio’s brain almost exploded there which I’m sure he’ll be telling you about soon) and some of the automotive culture in the villages surrounding the circuit.

On Saturday we photographed and filmed the first third of so of the 24 hours of Spa.

Sunday we drove back to the Nurburgring to check out the Recaro Tuning days and IDC German drift event. We then drove to Brussels.

Monday we flew to the UK and immediately went in to some business meetings about future projects….. (burp)

Today more NFS project related meetings….

And tomorrow we fly to Japan with our cameras to shoot the Ebisu Summer Drift festival, MSC drift event at Honjo Circuit… and a few more big surprises… all will be revealed in due course!

We'll also be investigating and dissecting the different aspects of Japanese car culture; breaking it down into nice digestible chunks.

As for me, I'm frantically trying to get my laundry done in in this hotel room and am dreaming of getting more than 5 hours sleep a night….

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz………..

For clarity's sake - you guys get to globe trot for automotive news and events and get paid in the process? Not fair, I say.

What will they do without their wrinkled old retainer?

Who will drive them in Japan?

That corner makes me think of Keiichi Tsuchiya and his drift bible...

I wish my company had us travelling this much, the furthest I have been was Donington Park.. 50miles away :'(
