Gallery>> Batmobile At Silverstone.

Most film/car marketing tie-ins leave me cold. It is rarely done well.

However, last weekend Toyota teamed up with Warner Bros to promote the forthcoming Batman film, 'The Dark Knight' and demonstrated the current 'Tumbler' Batmobile with the new Batpod and theToyota TF108 Formula 1 car.

The images show the different scales off well.

In my very humble opinion, the current Batmobile is one of the best versions that has been produced (the original 60's Lincoln Futura based machine is still the best!).

The Batmobile is 3 metres wide, 4.5 metres long and 1.5 metres tall. It weights just 2.5 tonnes. According to Toyota, the Batmobile can really jump, apparently 18 metres!!!

Meanwhile, the Toyota F1 car is a little longer at 4.6 metres, but 1.8 metres wide and just 960mm tall. It also weights 600kg, with the driver.

The new Batmobile is bigger than a H1.....lol

I think I would take the F1 car...for those approximately 3 seconds before I ran it into something. I wonder how much insurance would be on an F1 car if it was possible.....

3

I'd really like to know which powerplant hides in the new Batmobil...

I must agree with you on the original. It pwns all the batmobiles to date!

Lets get the original batmobile versus ghostbusters ecto wagon at tsukuba circuit, bets?

Lol when I saw the blog I thought the Batmobile did a time attack on silverstone.. lol

Lmao @ Section 9.

Clearly, it'd would have to be a drift battle ;)

Definitely agree that the Lincoln is the best(go George Barris!) In my opinion however, I don't care much for the latest batmobile, doesn't even remotely look like a car. My pick would be a black Pagani Zonda F Clubsport complete with the usual array of gadgets, guns, missles etc. The Zonda already looks like it should be the Batmobile with the stock body and already has the jet afterburner/rocket (exhaust).

Pagani has a bit of an issue with ground clearance and jumping, so that might be an issue with the current films!

How about the Mazda Furai- that would be a really good Batmobile!!! - http://www.topgear.com/content/features/stories/2008/03/stories/05/1.html

Talking of Film cars, I wlways liked the Land Rover from Judge Dread, years ago. Didnt think much of the film :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/davinian/26776963/
