Event>> Formula D Nj Unseeded Qualifying

I realize everyone wants to see more photos, but it's 4:00 AM right now, and we have to be at the track early tomorrow morning to shoot the actual Formula D event. So I'll keep it short and sweet. I have a ton of photos from Formula D practice and qualifying today, but I'll just leave you with this one photo.

Justin Pawlak, who normally drives a blue FC3S Turbo II RX-7, blew his motor prior to qualifying. Luckily for Justin, he was able to borrow an S13 from an East Coast Drift Alliance friend. Even though it was Justin's first time ever driving this S13, not to mention it was his first time driving the track at Englishtown's Old Bridge Township Raceway Park… and his first time driving the track… he somehow made it happen, and qualified in First Place!

Congratulations Justin! Okay, time to sleep. We'll have more pics for you all tomorrow!

FUCK YEAH, ZOMBIE CAR REPLACEMENT

I'm glad to see Pawlak doing well, my friends and went to FD Atlanta with the hopes of seeing his FC in new paint with the SEMA spec staggered VS-KFs, and seeing him run.

Even though we didn't see either of those things, it's a rad car, Really, really clean build.

Hey guys, I was at formula d today and picked up a card from you guys. Sadly I didnt actually see anyone from the site, but I got a spot right on the wall for practie-final run. Best part was when Hubinette, burned out in front of us and doused us with smoke and rubber, it was awesome. I also got to meet a couple drivers, but most seemed sort of stand offish, dont know why.

Cant wait to see pics, because mine arent great because I had to stand behind the fence.

P.S. I also had my xB in the scion booth, you may have seen it.

this was my 3rd forumla D event. I honestly think the Wall setup was more exciting. Standing in the bleachers, we couldn't even see the start of the competition. Despite the blazing speed into turn 1, I also think there was way too much downtime between runs. The crowd gets a little excited for the run they are watching, but then has to wait 2+ minutes for another run to start. This is why, I feel what there really isn't a huge amount of overall enthusiasm for this sport. Yes, people show up and throw down their $32, but the crowd just isn't into it for more than 2-3 seconds.... every 2-3 minutes.

Maybe it's just a NJ thing? (being mostly a 1320 crowd) I think they need to change the format. Maybe make each battle a few laps, or start to allow and promote passing? The Long Beach event looked awesome, but thats SoCal. There is obviously a larger market for drifting out west.

One of your photographers snapped a few pics of my car (blue evo VIII) as i was leaving. I was pretty suprised, he walked AWAY from a black R8 and took some shots of my daily driver! hah, good looks, hopefully I will see them up here somewhere.

Yeah I was the one who shot photos of your Evo... that was Tyson Beckford's R8. He's my boy and all, but the car is just stock right now, so of course I gravitate more towards cars with good wheel fitment...

heh,

Thanks for the compliment. Will the pics be up anywhere?

Damn, go Justin!
